Peter Erling Jacobsen was born on 4 March 1954, in Portland, Oregon USA, and is a professional golf player and commentator, best known for playing on the PGA Tour as well as the Champions Tour. He also works with the Golf Channel and NBC. All of his efforts have helped put his net worth to where it is today.
How rich is Peter Jacobsen? As of mid-2017, sources inform us of a net worth that is at $6 million, mostly earned through a successful career in professional golf, having won seven events on the PGA Tour and two events on the Champions Tour. As he continues his career, it is expected that his wealth will also continue to increase.
Peter attended Lincoln High School, and after matriculating went to the University of Oregon. He played golf at the school, and after winning the Oregon Open in 1976, turned professional.
Jacobsen qualified for the PGA Tour in his first event which was a qualifying tournament. He continued improving over the years until he got his first title in 1980 at the Buick-Goodwrench Open.
Four years later he would win twice on the tour and would be part of the money list top-10. His net worth started increasing significantly.
His next major victories would be in 1995, with two wins that led him to his career best 7th on the money list – these big performances also saw him selected for two Ryder Cups. His last and seventh win on the PGA Tour came at the 2003 Greater Hartford Open; he became one of the oldest players to win on the PGA Tour, and was voted the Tour’s comeback player of the year.
He has since competed on the Champions Tour since he became eligible, although continuing to play on the PGA Tour. He would win the 2004 US Senior Open which continued to build his net worth. After winning that major championship, he added another title in the 2005 Senior Players Championship.
Aside from his playing career, Peter has hosted two shows on the Golf Channel, entitled “Plugged In” and “Peter and Friends”. He was also a part of the film “Tin Cup” in 1996, in which he was a winner of a fictional US Open. Later in his career, he started Peter Jacobsen Sports which has run several professional golf tournaments, including the JELD-Wen Tradition, and the CVS Caremark Charity Classic. He is also the face of the gambling casino games called “Peter Jacobsen Challenge Keno”, and “Peter Jacobsen Challenge Poker”.
He was also the guitarist and lead singer of the band Jake Trout & The Flounders which recorded two albums in the 1980s.
For his personal life, it is known that Jacobsen married Jan in 1976; they have three children. He is well known for his humorous personality which led him to become very popular. He does impressions of other players, and his humor is also seen and heard on his commentary work. He is still considered one of golf’s most colorful personalities.
