O’Shea Jackson Wiki Biography
O’Shea Jackson, in show business better known as Ice Cube, is an American rapper, screenwriter, TV producer, record producer and actor who has an estimated net worth of $160 million in 2017. Today Ice Cube is one of the richest rappers in United States with great experience in the music industry. Cube’s lyrics in his songs are usually politically radical, sometimes even violent, but always meaningful, and that’s why Ice Cube was one of 15 greatest songwriters who were selected by The Source. Thanks to his amazing net worth Ice Cube is an influential person in Hollywood and famous not only in United States, but also all around the world.
O’Shea Jackson was born on June 15, 1969, in South Central Los Angeles, California. He has been interested in different genres of rap music since his youth and was even writing rap songs by himself in keyboarding class. Although he didn’t study music after school, but studied architectural drafting instead, during this period he was a member of the rap band “N.W.A”, which didn’t increase his net worth, but at least made him a little more famous and experienced. In an interview Jackson once said that he became interested in rap music and meaningful lyrics after a tragic accident happened in his family. While O’Shea still was a teenager, his sister was killed by her boyfriend who then attempted suicide.
However, he wasn’t the only one in his family who was interested in rap music – his cousins Kam and Teren Delvon Jones also shared the same interest. The first deposit into Ice Cube’s net worth was in 1989, when he left his band N.W.A and started a solo career. Soon he became a successful rapper as his album “Kill at Will” became the first album in hip-hop industry to go Platinum and Gold at once. Later O’Shea’s net worth rose one more time after his third album entitled “The Predator”. This CD appeared in stores in 1992 exactly during the riots in Los Angeles. It helped Ice Cube rise to fame even more as “The Predator” topped the charts not only on hip hop, but on pop too. This was a great success for such a young musician as Cube. However, he wasn’t able to release another album which would be as popular as the third one.
Ice Cube today is known not only as a musician, but as a great actor too, which has enabled him to increase his net worth too – he made his debut in the American drama film entitled “Boyz n the Hood” directed by John Singleton in 1991. After that he had an opportunity to play Craig Jones from “Friday”, Desolation Williams from “Ghosts of Mars”, Calvin Palmer from “Barbershop 2: Back in Business” and Darius Stone from “XXX: State of the Union”.
To better understand how rich is Ice Cube, he is usually mentioned together with such rap stars as Dr. Dre, Jay-Z and Snoop Dogg, quite an achievement in this competitive part of the entertainment industry.

O’Shea Jackson Quotes
- [on hip-hop] The Beastie Boys broke all the walls for me. They were the introduction of “rap is for everybody.” You know, it’s not just a black thing. When we came out, it was already a foregone conclusion that all types of life listen to rap. All cultures. But we never knew that “Straight Outta Compton” would blow up like it did.
- If you think about stuff that happened when you were young, it stays with you forever. South Central is just who I am. Even though I have a nice house, nice family, the rest of my generation is still in South Central L.A. My cousins, my brothers, my sisters, they don’t wanna move out. They don’t want to and they don’t have the means to sustain it. That’s where my heart is and that’s what I think about all the time.
- I think reading is important in any form. I think a person who’s trying to learn to like reading should start off reading about a topic they are interested in, or a person they are interested in.
- I’m not the type of actor who is trying to do a whole bunch of different shit, you know what I mean?
