Danny Cooksey Wiki Biography
Daniel Ray Allen Cooksey, Jr. was born on 2 November 1975, in Moore, Oklahoma USA, to Melody Ann and Daniel Ray Allen Cooksey. He is an actor and singer, probably best known for his role as Sam McKinney in the television series “Diff’rent Strokes”.
So just how rich is Danny Cooksey now? According to sources, Cooksey has accumulated a net worth over $500,000, as of mid-2017, earned during his acting and singing career since the mid-‘80s .
Cooksey moved to Los Angeles, California with his mother when he was five years old, to pursue a career in country music. Not long after, he entered the world of entertainment appearing in an episode of the popular TV series “The Dukes of Hazzard” in 1983. The following year he landed a role in the hit NBC sitcom “Diff’rent Strokes”, one of the top rated shows of the late ’70s and early ’80s, being cast as Sam McKinney. He joined the show for its seventh season, remaining until its cancellation in 1986. The role of McKinney earned him his first taste of fame, and a considerable net worth as well.
Meanwhile, he made appearances in other TV series, such as “The Twilight Zone”, “McGyver” and “Pound Puppies”. Following the end of “Diff’rent Strokes”, Cooksey landed a starring role in the CBS sitcom “The Cavanaughs”, playing Kevin Cavanaugh from 1986-1989. The role reinforced his popularity, greatly adding to his wealth. By the end of the decade, he had appeared in series such as “Werewolf” and “Growing Pains”, and also did extensive voice over work, providing his voice for animated series such as “Little Clowns of Happytown”, “Superman” and “Bill & Ted’s Excellent Adventures”. All contributed to his net worth.
Opportunities continued to flow in during the ’90s, when the young actor gained additional popularity for being the voice of Montana Max in the animated series “Tiny Toon Adventures” and “The Plucky Duck Show”, while also providing his voice for other animated series, including “The Little Mermaid”, “101 Dalmations” and “Pepper Ann”. The ’90s also saw Cooksey appearing in one of the most successful films of the decade, “Terminator 2: Judgment Day’ as John Connor’s friend Tim. He also appeared in the film “Mom and Dad Save The World”, and played Bobby Budnick in the comedy series “Salute Your Shorts”. His wealth grew larger.
Cooksey’s career from the 2000s on was concentrated on voice-over roles only. He provided his voice for characters in animated series such as “Static Shock”, “Invader Zim”, “Xiaolin Showdown” and “Dave the Barbarian”, as well as for a number of video games, including “Arc the Lad: Twilight of the Spirits”, “Quake 4” and “MadWorld”. He later voiced the character of Brad Buttowski in the animated series “Kick Buttowski: Suburban Daredevil” from 2010 to 2012, and Brett/ Chet in the 2012 animated film “The Lorax”, among many other voice roles. His involvement in all these projects considerably increased Cooksey’s fortune.
He is currently involved in voicing the character Stoop Kid in the animated TV film “Hey Arnold!: The Jungle Movie”, set to be released in 2017.
Aside from his acting career, Cooksey has also pursued a career in music. He was the lead singer in the band Bad4Good, who released one album – the 1992 “Refugee”. In the mid-’90s he was a band member of Lucy’s Mill, and of Arbuckle in 2004. He was also a band member of Shelter Dogs in 2013. His music career has been another source of his net worth.
When it comes to his personal life, Cooksey has been married to actress and make-up artist Amber Leigh since 1998. They have two children together.

Danny Cooksey Quotes
- [on his late Diff’rent Strokes (1978) co-star, Gary Coleman] I really looked up to Gary… I’d watch him and learn… We shot in front of a live audience… He took me under his wing… I learned a tremendous amount from him. I would go over to his house and look at his train set. He was really into trains and had a huge room dedicated to his trains, but I couldn’t touch them. They were only for looking – the trains were Gary’s baby… Gary also had the full-on arcade version of “Spy Hunter”, which in 1985 was a big deal.
- [on his late Diff’rent Strokes (1978) co-star, Dana Plato] She was always very jovial and extremely nice. Occasionally, she brought her baby to the set. Every minute I recall with her, she was happy and funny and smiling and playful.
