Spencer Rice Wiki Biography

Born Spencer Nolan Rice on the 14th April 1963, in Toronto, Ontario Canada, Spencer is a writer, director, actor, and producer, but perhaps best known to the world as the co-star of the TV comedy game-show “Kenny vs. Spenny” (2002-2009), with Kenny Hotz.

Have you ever wondered how rich Spencer Rice is, as of mid- 2017? According to authoritative sources, it has been estimated that Rice’s net worth is as high as $1 million, earned through his career in the entertainment industry, which began in the early ‘90s.

From an early age, Spencer was drawn to the performing arts; his first love was guitar, but as he got older, he chose acting and comedy. He went to Crescent School, which is a Toronto boys’ independent school, after which he became a pupil at Forest Hill Collegiate Institute, where he started playing hockey for the team but also began to form his comedy routine with Second City. After matriculation, Spencer enrolled at Glendon College, which is a part of York University, to study film.

Following the end of his studies, Spencer started building his name in the entertainment world, firstly by working as an assistant director, but also as an independent film-maker. He made his directing debut in 1993 with the short film “Telewhore” – a documentary about a phone sex girl – which received positive critiques at the Toronto International Film Festival, and then in 1995 he completed his first collaboration with Kenny Hotz, the short film “It Don’t Cost Nothin’ to Say Good Morning”. The film became quite successful, which encouraged the two to continue their work together. This resulted in the documentary “Pitch”, two years later, which is about themselves, while trying to pitch their screenplay for a transgender mob comedy “The Dawn”. The film won the Best Film Award from the Toronto Independent Arts Festival. Later, the two created what turned out to be their most successful venture to the present, the comedy game show “Kenny vs. Spenny” (2002-2009). The show featured the duo in survival competition, with the loser having to perform a humiliation that the winner chose. The show won the Canadian Comedy Award in the category Best Direction – Television Program or Series in 2010, among other nominations.

In 2008, Spencer ventured out on his own, and wrote and starred in the mocumentary “Confessions of a Porn Addict”, which was also a success, winning several awards at the Mockfest Film Festival that year. His latest enterprise was the TV series “X-Rayted” (2013), in which the lead character tries to sleep with as many women he can during 24 hours; the show lasted only for eight episodes, starring Mathieu Martel, Ray Wolfe, and Spencer.

Regarding his personal life, Spencer is openly gay – he once tried to kiss Kenny while the two were in Amsterdam. There is no further information about Spencer’s life outside career, as he tends to keep it hidden from the media.
