American author, actress, film director and producer, as well as a singer and songwriter, Barbara Joan “Barbra” Streisand was born on 24 April 1942, in Brooklyn, New York City, of Jewish descent – Polish-Ukrainian from her mother, and Russian through her father. She is actually famous because of her several talents, making her one of the most successful people in several entertainment genres. She has sold over 71 million albums in the US alone, while the number exceeds 245 million worldwide, compiling  a total of 32 albums since 1963 which have entered the top ten albums in the US and many other countries, and the only artist to score a #1in six successive decades.
