Jonathan grew up in his hometown and went to McPherson High School, where he played basketball and led his team to two state championships, before he matriculated and enrolled at McPherson College. There, he expanded his interests to theatre, and working as a sports editor on the school newspaper, and was also a play-by-play and color commentator for the local basketball and football teams. After college, he became a sports reporter, and anchor for KAKE, based in Wichita, Kansas, and also worked for KMBC-TV, based in Kansas City; all a good basis to his net worth.Jonathan first joined World Wrestling Federation (WWF) in 1999, working as an interviewer, commentator and presenter. He also had screen time with wrestler The Rock, in which The Rock tried to humiliate Jonathan in every way possible.
In 2003 he appeared at SummerSlam as heel turn against Shane McMahon, Following which he would often feature on-screen as lackey to Raw general manager at the time Eric Bischoff. He continued to work under script, teaming up with WWE Heat announcer Al Snow, and with him feuding against Raw announcers Jerry Lawler and Jim Ross. Little by little his name was becoming more popular in the wrestling world and he made several appearances in the ring, defeating Tajiri in one of his matches, and then became host of the 2004 Raw Diva Searches, and the following year hosted the same event. After that, he started writing for the now defunct Raw Magazine, and hosted his own show on WWE.com. In 2005 he signed a multi-year contract with WWE and became the third member of the RAW broadcast team.
In 2006, Jonathan became Executive Assistant to Vince McMahon, helping run Raw on a daily basis, and the next year he was promoted to Interim General Manager, after the staged death of Vince McMahon in a limo explosion. However, that didn’t last long as William Regal was appointed as new General Manager of Raw in August that year, and as a result, Jonathan became his assistant. In 2008, his contract expired and decided not to renew it. Nevertheless, he eventually returned to WWE in March 2016, and since then has been a part of the Wrestling industry.
Following his departure in 2008, he joined ESPN the next year and became anchor of SportsCenter. Three years later he was appointed as the host of the show “Coach & Company”, broadcast through ESPN Radio. Furthermore, he has also worked with other TV stations, including CBS and MSG Network, on which he was the studio host for New York Knicks games.
