According to authoritative sources, it has been estimated that George’s net worth is as high as $10 million, an amount earned largely through her successful career as a sportscaster. In addition to working on CBS, George is also an owner of several companies, which has improved her wealth too.

Phyllis George was a daughter of James George and Diantha Cogdell, and grew up in Texas, where she went to the University of North Texas for three years. George also appeared in numerous television shows at the time, most notable were three interviews she did on “The Tonight Show Starring Johnny Carson”.

In 1974, CBS approached Phyllis with an offer to become a sportscaster, and the next year, George joined the cast of “The NFL Today”, to work as a co-host of the live pre-game shows of NFL games.

She also worked on horse racing events such as the Triple Crown Preakness Stakes and the Belmont Stakes among others, while in 1979 finding the time to appear in a Primetime Emmy Award-nominated TV movie called “Happy Birthday, Charlie Brown”. Her net worth was certainly well set

In 1985, Phyllis worked as a co-host of the CBS Morning News, and that same year she received a three-year contract to serve as a permanent anchor of the program, which included interviewing first lady Nancy Reagan. George hosted her show called “A Phyllis George Special” in 1994, on which she interviewed notable persons such as then-President Bill Clinton, and then she hosted the talk show called “Women’s Day” in 1998. Her net worth was rising steadily.

George launched the chicken fillets company named “By George” in 1986, but after only two years she decided to sell it to the consumer giant Hormel Foods. In 2003, Phyllis founded the line of cosmetics and skincare products called Phyllis George Beauty, which were sold through television shopping network HSN, these dealing also helping her growing wealth.

Additionally, George has written or co-authored five books, including her first one “The I Love America Diet” (1982) and her latest “Never Say Never” (2002), while in 2000, she appeared in an Oscar-nominated movie “Meet the Parents” starring Ben Stiller and Robert De Niro.
