Gregory Walter Jarrett Wiki Biography
Gregory Walter Jarrett was born on 7 April 1955, in Los Angeles, California USA, and is a television journalist and news anchor, best known for his work on the Fox New Channel.
So just how wealthy is Gregg Jarrett at present? Sources state that Jarrett has amassed a fortune of over $2 million, as of early 2017. The main source of his wealth has been his career as an anchor, but he began working in law in the early 1980s.
Jarrett grew up in nearby San Marino, California, where he attended San Marino High School, matriculating in 1973. He enrolled in Claremont Men’s College, graduating magna cum laude in 1977, with a degree in Political Science. He then earned his J.D. from the University of California, Hastings College of the Law, in 1980.
After completing his education, Jarrett spent the next several years working as a defense attorney at Gordon & Rees LLP located in San Francisco. He also taught law as an adjunct professor at New York Law School, as well as at several other law schools.
His career as an anchor began on local radio stations in the early 1990s. He first worked as an anchor and producer at formerly PBS-affiliated station KCSM-TV in San Francisco, California, and later took job as an anchor and reporter for ABC-affiliated station WMDT-TV in Salisbury, Maryland, NBC-affiliated KSNW-TV in Wichita, Kansas, and the independently-owned WKFT-TV in Raleigh, North Carolina.
Following his radio career, Jarrett began working as an anchor on Court TV (today’s TruTV), the position he would hold for eight years. In addition to being the anchor of “Prime Time Justice”, he served as host of “Inside America’s Courts”, the network’s syndicated magazine show. He also wrote his weekly legal column which was distributed to 350 newspapers across the country. All contributed to his popularity, and to his net worth as well.
Jarrett then began working as an anchor and correspondent for MSNBC, where he reported from major events such as the 2000 presidential election, the September 11 attacks and the Israeli/Palestinian conflict in 2001.
In 2002 he joined the Fox News Channel, where he has co-anchored weekend newscasts with Heather Childers, and has served as a correspondent for the network’s documentaries, and as a legal analyst for both FNC and the Fox Business Network. He has also been a substitute anchor weekdays for “America’s Newsroom”, “Happening Now” and “Shepard Smith Reporting”. While at Fox, Jarrett has been involved in covering a variety of events, such as the Iraq War, the Deepwater Horizon oil spill, the Moore tornado, the resignation of Pope Benedict XVI and the inauguration of Pope Francis, the murder trial of George Zimmerman and the crash of Asiana Flight 214 at the San Francisco Airport. He has also covered several presidential elections. Jarrett’s involvement in FCN has made him a famous figure nationally, significantly adding to his wealth.
Speaking about Jarrett’s private life, he has been married to Catherine Kennedy Anderson since 1993. The couple has two children.
The anchor has been involved in controversy. Reportedly, in 2014 he requested an indefinite leave of absence from Fox for undisclosed ‘personal reasons’. The following week he was arrested at the Minneapolis St. Paul Airport bar for interfering with a peace officer. Jarrett was drunk and found with Gabapentin, which is a medication used to treat conditions such as epilepsy and neuropathic pain. When authorities searched his bag, it was revealed that he was recently released from an alcohol and chemical dependency treatment facility.
