Lane Kiffin Wiki Biography
Lane Monte Kiffin was born on 9 May 1975, in Lincoln, Nebraska USA, and is an American Football coach and former football player, probably best known as the offensive coordinator for the University of Alabama football team. He first came to notice when he coached the Oakland Raiders, as he was the youngest head coach in NFL history; he was also the youngest head coach of a BCS Conference team. All of his efforts have helped put his net worth to where it is today.
How rich is Lane Kiffin? As of mid-2016, sources estimate a net worth that is at $6 million, mostly earned through success as a football coach, mostly working for numerous teams in college football., and as he continues his career it is expected that his wealth will increase.
Kiffin started his career at Colorado State University as a graduate assistant. He was then appointed as a quality control assistant for the Jacksonville Jaguars, before landing a tight ends coaching job at USC – he joined the staff during the 2001 season, and would become the wide receivers coach after a year, then in 2004 the passing game coordinator, followed by promotion to offensive coordinator the following year, and the recruiting coordinator in the same year. While handling these two positions, he still continued to be the wide receiver’s coach and helped the team achieve numerous records. During his time as recruiting coordinator, the Trojans became the top ranked recruiter in college football. As offensive coordinator, he also helped the team to an 88% win rate at 23-3.
In 2007, he was hired by the Oakland Raiders, making him at 32 the youngest coach in the NFL’s “modern era”. He was given a two-year $4 million contract which increased his net worth, and would get his first season win in September 2007. He had a lot of plans as coach however the Raiders owner Davis was not satisfied with his first season and he was fired, subsequently becoming the head coach of the University of Tennessee Volunteers, the youngest active head coach in Division I FBS and would be given a six year deal that would gradually increase his salary. However, after just one season he would leave the school to take the head coaching job at the University of Southern California. Kiffin leaving the school instigated a riot that had to be quelled by the fire and police department.
Lane returned to the USC to become the head coach, but due to problems with the NCAA, a lot of opportunities were restricted. In 2010, they went on to an 8-5 record but were ineligible to play the postseason because of NCAA sanctions against former player Reggie Bush; consequently many players opted to transfer to other universities. In the next season, they went on to make a 10-2 record but were still ineligible for postseason play. 2012 became a disappointing season for Kiffin as he had a losing record and it would be a downward spiral from there. During the next season he was fired, and would then become part of the Alabama Crimson Tide as offensive coordinator.
For his personal life, it is known that Lane is the son of Monte Kiffin, a former NFL defensive coordinator. His brother is also a coach and a former college football player. He married Layla in 2004 and they have three children, but in 2016 the couple apparently began divorce proceedings.
