Rawson Marshall Thurber is a film director, screenwriter, producer and actor born on 9th of February 1975 in San Francisco, California USA. He is best known for writing and directing “Terry Tate, Office Linebacker”, a series of short comedy television commercials, and for directing “Dodgeball: A True Underdog Story” sports comedy film.

After finishing Miramonte High School in Orinda, his father’s wealth secured him schooling at Union College in New York, where he became a member of the Delta Upsilon fraternity and played for the college football team. After graduating with a BA in English and Theater Arts, he enrolled at the University of Southern California where he earned an MFA in producing from the Peter Stark Producing Program.

Before starting his independent career, Thurber assisted screenwriter John August with the TV series “D.C.” and was one of only three of his assistant screenwriters who made it big afterwards. He wrote and directed commercials for Reebok in 2002, by the name “Terry Tate: Office Linebacker”, which won the Cannes Lions International Advertising Festival Golden Lion Award after being voted “Most Likeable Ad of 2003” by USA Today. Two years later he debuted as a film writer and director with the hit comedy film “DodgeBall: A True Underdog Story” (2004). The film starred Ben Stiller and Vince Vaughn and quickly earned over $150 million at the worldwide box office. His net worth was rising steadily.

After such a success with his debut film, he decided to direct and produce “The Mysteries Of Pittsburgh”(2008) based on Michael Chabon’s novel by the same name, which brought him a nomination for a Grand Jury Prize at the Sundance Film Festival. The same year, Thurber released a dramatic short called “Manchild”. Among his more recent activity is the 2013 satirical crime comedy film “We’re the Millers” with Jennifer Aniston in the lead role. A year later there was a rumor that Rawson would replace Edgar Wright in directing “Ant-Man” but he later turned down the offer. Rawson has also made a brief appearance in films “The Nines” and “Easy A”. Currently, he is working on an upcoming action comedy film “Central Intelligence”, which he has also written. The film will be released in 2016.

When it comes to Rawson Thurber’s private life, most of it is kept in strict secrecy. However, he reportedly married his long time girlfriend Sarah Koplin in December 2014. Thurber is a big fan of the “Ghost Busters” (1984) movie and considers it the best comedy ever made. He lives in San Francisco.
