Åse Agneta Fältskog Wiki Biography
Agnetha Ase Faltskog was born on 5 April 1950, in Jonkoping, Smaland, Sweden, and is a recording artist, best known for being part of the international pop group ABBA. Her highly successful solo debut album “Agnetha Faltskog” was released in 1968. All of her efforts have helped put her net worth to where it is today.
How rich is Agnetha Faltskog? As of late-2016, sources inform us of a net worth that is at $200 million, mostly earned through a highly successful career in the music industry. ABBA sold over 380 million albums, making them one of the best-selling music artists in history. All of her achievements helped ensure the position of her wealth.
In 1958, Faltskog started singing in a local choir and took piano lessons. Two years later, she formed a group called the Cambers, and they would perform locally before dissolving due to a lack of opportunities. At the age of 15, she left school to fully pursue a music career.
While performing with a local dance band, she worked as a telephonist for a car firm, but would leave her job due to the band becoming popular locally. She recorded the song “I Was So in Love” and sent a demo of her band to a record company, but the producer was only interested in Agnetha and her song. She declined the offer, but then signed a recording contract with CBS Records. In 1967, she would release the song “I Was So In Love” which would boost her popularity significantly, becoming one of the most popular artists in Sweden, and started releasing more songs. In 1970, she released another successful song entitled “If Tears Were Gold”, and would then become part of a production of “Jesus Christ Superstar”. Her net worth was well established.
Faltskog then met Bjorn Ulvaeus and was also friends with Anni-Frid Lyngstad. They along with Benny Andersson would form the group ABBA which would find worldwide success, especially after winning the widely televised Eurovision Song Contest in 1974. During her time with the group she also released the album “Elva kvinnor I et thus” which became one of the longest charting albums of Sweden. She continued making songs while being part of ABBA, and even released her own version of “SOS”. She also recorded the Christmas album “Nu tandas tusen juleijus” and became a successful solo artist even with the international fame of the band.
In 1981, Agnetha tried her hand as a composer, writing the ballad “Men Natten Ar Var”. ABBA would continue touring around the world, and she was responsible for helping create numerous songs including “Just Like That”, “Take a Chance on Me”, “Thank You for the Music” and “The Day Before You Came”. The group disbanded in late 1982, and Faltskog would then re-embark on a solo career. She released her first post-ABBA album in 1983 entitled “Wrap Your Arms Around Me”, and it found moderate success in various countries. The album sold 1.2 million copies in the first year and found a significant amount of popularity all around Europe.
Her next album would be “Eyes of a Woman” which was released in 1985 and it sold well in Europe. The following year, she recorded a duet with Ola Hakansson entitled “The Way You Are” and it would reach the top of the charts of Sweden. In 1987, she would record her fourth solo album “I Stand Alone” and it became the best-selling album in Sweden during 1988. Afterwards, she went on hiatus and withdrew from public appearances, becoming something of a recluse. In 1996, she released her autobiography entitled “As I Am”. She would return to making music in 2004 and would release a collection album entitled “My Colouring Book”. She would continue this with another compilation album in 2008 entitled “My Very Best”. One of her latest works is the album “A” released in 2013.
For her personal life, it is known that Agnetha married Bjorn Ulvaeus in 1971 and they had two children. They divorced in 1978 but decided to keep performing together in ABBA. In 1990, she married Tomas Sonnenfeld and their marriage lasted for two years.

Åse Agneta Fältskog Quotes
- There are a lot of artists that I love, and I think they’re really talented, and they’re good dancers as well. I’ve always wished that I could combine that.
- When I record, it feels like I’m in a bubble. There’s nothing else in my head right then. It’s just that song, and I’m trying to really sound like what the song is about.
- I used to suffer from stage fright, which at times was an ordeal. I won’t perform live again. I’m going to do some TV shows and videos but nothing else… I don’t like to travel too much or do concerts. I’m more of a studio and home girl.
- Performing live is not my favourite. I am more of a recording person; I prefer to be private. I didn’t mind doing videos, even if they came very close with the camera. I can take that, but walking on stage in concert and singing live, that is a bit difficult.
- This idea of trying to repeat a success doesn’t interest me. It’s only really done to make money.
- No one who has experienced facing a screaming, boiling, hysterical audience can avoid feeling shivers in the spine. It’s a thin line between celebration and menace.
- I spend a lot of time with the grandchildren. They love it when we sing together. It’s fantastic to hear them, and they really can sing. I don’t talk to them so much about ‘Abba’ and the past, but as they get older, they will become more aware.
- I sing just for fun.
- When I was 15 I became a full-time singer in a band. At 18 I made my first record.
- When you love someone, and you’ve lost that one, then nothing really matters.
- I must be allowed to be as I am.
- It’s strange that the newspapers don’t see a connection between their false revelations about my private life and my need for seclusion and security.
- I am uninterested in appearing in newspapers and on television. Many people think I am striking a pose – that I want to create a sense of shyness. But it’s just not something I want to do. I overdosed.
- There was a time when the music fell silent. Both within me and around me.
- I may have aimed too high sometimes, asked too much of myself and demanded too little from those around me.
- When I’m living in the world of luxury and celebrity, which is where I found myself for a large part of my life, it’s a walk-on part. Not a vital necessity, like it is for so many people. I enjoy it but I can see right through it!
- I would like to sing the theme tune of a big film – something like ‘Titanic.’
- I was so tired once ‘Abba’ was over and just wanted to be calm and with my children. I married, was in ‘Abba,’ had my children, divorced, all in ten years. I wonder how I managed it, but I was young.
- When I was 25, Abba was formed. After Abba I made three solo albums. Maybe I have been productive enough.
- It has always felt like a failure that Bjorn and I couldn’t keep our family together. You never get it back, but to this day I don’t regret splitting up. The reason behind our separation is one of those things I definitely don’t want to go into!
- I’m a country bumpkin. I’m not a showgirl.
- My life contains so many other things; I have my children, my grandchildren, my two dogs and a big place in the country. I have my own life.
- I have one pug and one Czechoslovakian dog called Prazsky krysarik.
- The press has always written that I am a recluse and a mysterious woman, but I am more down-to-earth than they think.
- I can spot empty flattery and know exactly where I stand. In the end it’s really only my own approval or disapproval that means anything.
- My path has not been determined. I shall have more experiences and pass many more milestones.
- I have always had strong maternal instincts. Even when I was still a child I cut out pictures of prams from newspapers and imagined the feeling of pushing my own pram through fresh winter snow and seeing the wheels’ tracks behind me in the snow.
- There is a danger of changing too much in the search for perfection.
- I just want to live in peace and quiet.
