Bobby Flay Wiki Biography

Robert William Flay, commonly known as Bobby Flay, is a famous American television personality, television producer, celebrity chef, as well as a presenter. To the audience, Bobby Flay is perhaps best known for his many appearances on various reality cooking shows. Flay’s rise to prominence started in 2005 when he took part in the “Iron Chef America” series, where he competed against nine other professional chefs. During the special episode of the series, Flay joined forces with Giada De Laurentiis to compete against Rachael Ray and Mario Batali. Even though Flay and Laurentiis lost, the episode received a lot of attention from the audience and became the highest rated episode on the Food Network to date.

In addition to “Iron Chef”, Bobby Flay has been a host of thirteen other cooking shows, including “Hot Off the Grill with Bobby Flay”, “3 Days to Open with Bobby Flay”, “Boy Meets Grill”, “Brunch with Bobby’s” and “Throwdown! With Bobby Flay”. The latter show, where Flay challenged other cooks to a cook-off, first aired in 2006 and was on air for eight seasons until it finished its run in 2010. The show featured guest appearances from such chefs as Benjamin Sargent, Lynn Winter and Giorgio Giove. “Throwdown!” was even parodied in a popular sitcom “iCarly” with Miranda Cosgrove.

A popular celebrity chef and a television personality, how rich is Bobby Flay? According to sources, Bobby Flay’s net worth is estimated to be $20 million. Undoubtedly, the majority of Bobby Flay’s net worth and wealth comes from his on screen appearances.

Bobby Flay was born in 1964, in New York City, US. Bobby Flay did not graduate from high school but instead decided to take up various jobs in the culinary industry. Flay initially worked in the “Baskin-Robins” ice cream shop and then rose through the ranks and went on to work at the “Joe Allen Restaurant”, where he was making salads. Flay managed to impress the owner of the restaurant Joe Allen who even suggested that he would pay his tuition at the International Culinary Center, where Flay received a culinary arts degree.

After graduating from the culinary school, Bobby Flay took many job offers, none of which were as successful as the position of a chef in the “Mesa Grill” restaurant which he was offered later. Eventually, Flay became partnered with Laurence Kretchmer who gave him the job, and soon afterwards Flay opened another “Mesa Grill” restaurant, this time in Las Vegas. Flay’s “Mesa Grill” in Vegas earned him his only Michelin Star. Flay kept opening restaurants in the biggest cities in the United States and around the same time debuted on television screens.

Over the years, Bobby Flay gained a lot of popularity due to hosting many television shows on Food Network and Cooking Channel, as well as publishing several cookbooks and making appearances on “Law & Order: Special Victims Unit” series, “Jeopardy!”, “Entourage” with Kevin Connolly and Jeremy Piven, and a sketch comedy series “Portlandia” with Fred Armisen.

A famous television personality, as well as an author, Bobby Flay has an estimated net worth of $16 million.
