Erik Isaac Morales Elvira, better known by his nickname El Terrible (The Terrible), was born on the 1st September 1976 in Tijuana, Baja California, Mexico, and is recognized as a now retired professional boxer, who won world titles in four different weight divisions. He is also known for being the 49th in ESPN’s top 50 greatest boxers of all time. His professional boxing career was active from 1993 to 2012.

So, have you ever wondered how rich Erik Morales is, as of early 2017? According to authoritative sources, it has been estimated that the total size of Erik’s net worth is over $2 million, accumulated through his successful career in the sports industry as a professional boxer.

Erik Morales was raised in Tijuana by his father, José Morales, and his mother; his brothers are Ivan Morales, and Diego Morales, both of whom are involved in boxing as well. Under the influence of his father, Erik began to train in boxing when he was only five years old. Thanks to his talent, he had a great amateur career, fighting 114 times and winning 11 major titles in Mexico.

Erik turned professional as a boxer when he was only 16 years old, making his debut against Jose Orejel, knocking him out in two rounds, which marked the beginning of his net worth. From 1993 to 1997, he competed in the super bantamweight division, and won all of his 26 fights, including against Hector Acero Sánchez and Kenny Mitchell. In 1997, he won his first title at super bantamweight (WBC), knocking Daniel Zaragoza out in eleven rounds. His next big victory came in the following year, when he defeated Junior Jones, and a year later, he knocked out Wayne McCullough, a former WBC Bantamweight Champion. In 2000, Erik won the WBO Super Bantamweight title, with a victory against Marco Antonio Barrera, and the game was named the Fight of the Year by The Ring, which added a considerable amount to his net worth.

Soon, Erik decided to vacate his WBC Super Bantamweight title, so he could move up the ladder to the featherweight division, and he won the Interim WBC Featherweight title in his second fight at this weight. During the next two years, he managed to retain the title, winning against Rodney Jones in 2000 and Guty Espadas, Jr. in 2001. However, in the following year, he was defeated for the first time by Marco Antonio Barrera.

Nevertheless, he continued to line up success after success, and in 2004 he started to compete in the super featherweight division, becoming the WBC Champion. In the same year, he had a re-match with Barrera, and Erik was defeated again, and the third match between them is once again named the Fight of the Year. In 2005, Erik defeated three-division world champion Manny Pacquiao, increasing his net worth by a large margin.

To speak further about his career, Erik won the WBC Light Welterweight Championship in 2011, with a win over Pablo Cesar Cano, and he became the first Mexican boxer in history to win world titles in four different weight divisions, increasing further his net worth. In October of 2012, he retired, and his last match was against Danny Garcia, who defeated him. He finished his career having 61 fights in total (52 – 9), with 36 knockouts.

Speaking about his personal life, Erik Morales is married to Andrea, with whom he has three children.
