Soledad O’Brien Wiki Biography
María de la Soledad Teresa O’Brien was born on the 19th September 1966, on Long Island in New York State, USA of Cuban (mother) and Australian-Irish ancestry. She is a television journalist who currently works for CNN, since January 2012 being a presenter for the morning program “Starting Point”. She also worked on “American Morning” for the period from 2003 to 2007. She is the winner of an Emmy Award.
So just how rich is the journalist? Reportedly, the net worth of Soledad O’Brien is equal to $5 million, accumulated during her career spanning almost 30 years.
To give some background facts, Soledad was raised by her father, a professor of mechanical engineering, and her mother, a language teacher. The family had six children who all later graduated from Harvard University. Soledad O’Brien’s first job was as an assistant director and news writer for WBZ-TV in Boston. Later, she worked as a local reporter and office manager at KRON in San Fransisco. Both of these TV stations were related to NBC and from 1991 to 1999 she worked for NBC in New York as television director (field producer) for “Nightly News” and “TODAY”. From 1999 she was the host of “Weekend Today”, while she helped with news coverage to other programs and covered several important news events in the field. All these positions helped raise her net worth steadily.
She joined CNN in 2003 and was the host of “American Morning” until 2007. In 2007, she made primary programs for “Black in America” dealing with ethnic minorities, but also had other responsibilities, for example worked as a presenter. In 2010, she published her autobiography, “The Next Big Story: My Journey through the Land of Possibilities”. In January, 2012 she became a presenter of the morning program “Starting Point with Soledad O’Brien”. Again, her net worth rose steadily.
The work of Soledad O’Brien is highly appreciated by critics and audiences. In 2007, National Association for the Advancement of Coloured People awarded Soledad O’Brien the organization’s President’s Award for her humanitarian efforts and outstanding journalistic efforts.
