William Leonard Roberts II Wiki Biography

American songwriter, actor and, most importantly, a rap artist William Leonard Roberts II, to the public known by his stage name of Rick Ross, was born on 28 January 1976, in Clarksdale, Mississippi and is perhaps best regarded as a founder of the record label Maybach Music Group in 2009. MMG currently has Ross, Wale, Omarion, French Montana and Gunplay among others on their label, and through it Rick Ross has released most of his albums. “Deeper than Rap” was released that same year, and made it to #1 on the Billboard 200 chart, with more than 158,000 copies sold in the first week, with critics expressing positive views too.

So just how rich is Rick Ross, as of early 2018?  Authoritative sources say that Rick’s net worth is estimated to be over $35 million, the majority of which comes from his career as a rap artist In 2011, Ross’ income amounted to $6 million, while in 2012 he contributed an additional $600,000 to it from the sales of his album “God Forgives, I Don’t”.

Rick Ross was raised in Florida, where he attended Miami Carol City Senior High School. Prior to becoming a professional rap artist, Ross studied at Albany State University on a football scholarship, and after that worked as a correctional service officer. Rick Ross didn’t debut in the music industry until 2006, with the release of his first album “Port of Miami”; it drew critical praise, as well as making it to the #1 spot on the Billboard 200 chart, and gaining gold certification with sales of more than 860,000 copies to date. Ross’ successful debut made significant contributions to his net worth, and popularity, and gave him an opportunity to work with some of the more prominent artists in the music industry, such as P. Diddy, Jay-Z, Lil Wayne, Ne-Yo and others. Two years later, Ross came out with his second album called “Trilla”, which also topped the Billboard charts and achieved gold certification. “Deeper than Rap” followed, and featured Birdman, Kanye West, Lil Wayne and T-Pain as guest performers. “Teflon Don”, Ross’ fourth studio album, continued the commercial success of its predecessor, selling more than 176,000 copies during its debut week, and peaking at #2 on the Billboard 200 while receiving generally positive reviews from the critics. Ross’ most recent work called “Mastermind” was released in 2014, and again peaked at #1 on the charts, although his ninth studio album, “Rather You Than Me” is scheduled for a 2017 release.

In addition to performing on stage, Rick Ross has been featured in many television shows too, including “Late Night with Jimmy Fallon”, “Chelsea Lately” and “Jimmy Kimmel Live!”.

In his personal life, Rick Ross dated Shateria Moragne-el, a fashion model, and was engaged to Lira Mercer, a hip hop model, but currently he is still single. He has had legal issues, namely those related to the possession of marijuana and guns, plus an argument over trademark concerning the use of his stage name, which have interfered somewhat with Ross’ success. However, this hasn’t stopped him recently buying several Wingstop restaurants, which may also prove profitable.
