Victor Drai Wiki Biography

Victor Drai was born on 25 July 1947, in Casablanca, Morocco, of Jewish descent. Victor is a film producer, entrepreneur, and nightclub owner, best known for his popularity during the 1980s, thanks to films such as “The Woman in Red” and “Weekend at Bernie’s”. All of his efforts have helped put his net worth to where it is today.

How rich is Victor Drai? As of early-2017, sources estimate a net worth that is at $50 million, mostly earned through a successful career in films and business. After releasing a string of successful movies, he left the industry to open nightclubs and restaurants. All of these achievements ensured the position of his wealth.

At the age of 14, Victor dropped out of school to move to Paris, France along with his family. He grew up there, and in 1968 launched a ready-to-wear fashion line called Vicadam, the main feature of his line being velvet jeans. Eventually, he would sell his fashion line to move to the United States so that he could be close to partner Jacqueline Bisset. The two would start a new business in the States, in which they flipped Beverly Hills mansions.

In 1982 Drai returned to Paris, and after seeing the film “Pardon Mon Affaire” he decided to venture into filmmaking, remaking an American version entitled “The Woman in Red” which starred Gene Wilder and Kelly Le Brock, released in 1984 and adapting the script from the original. The romantic film would prove successful, including winning an Academy Award for Best Original Song. This then led to Victor producing a series of comedies; in 1985 he released “The Man with One Red Shoe” which starred Tom Hanks, an adaptation of a 1972 French film. He then created “Weekend at Bernie’s” in 1989 which despite its negative reception, achieved financial success, and would eventually become a cult classic.

In 1993, Victor then decided to open a restaurant and focus on a more family-friendly career. He opened the restaurant called “Drai’s” in the L’Ermitage Beverly Hills hotel, with the help of French chef Claude Segal. Two years later, he opened a second “Drai’s” in Las Vegas. Then he opened a nightclub eventually called “Drai’s After Hours”. In 2007, he took over La Bete which is located in Wynn Las Vegas, and re-branded it to “Tryst”, and opened a new nightclub the following year at Encore Las Vegas – two years later it would win “New Club of the Year” and “Mega-Club of the Year” awards at the Nightclub & Bar Awards. The club’s name is “XS” and it was the number one nightclub of the US in 2010. Eventually, he sold his managing partnership rights of the companies to pursue other endeavors.

In 2014, he opened “Drai’s Beach Club & Nightclub” at The Cromwell Las Vegas, a large club with a party pool and an indoor/outdoor design. He has also been listed as part of the Nightclub Hall of Fame which only contains 16 names.

For his personal life, it is known that Victor had a relationship with actress Jacqueline Bisset from 1973 to 1980. Four years later, he married Kelly Le Brock and it lasted for two years. In 1990, he married Loryn Locklin, with whom he has a son, but the marriage also ended in divorce. He married Yolanda Krupiarz in 2016.
