Urban Frank Meyer, III was born on the 10th July 1964, in Toledo, Ohio USA, and is best known over the world for being a former professional American football player and a college football coach for the team Ohio State Buckeyes. He is also recognized for coaching the teams the Bowling Green Falcons, the Utah Utes and the Florida Gators. His coaching career has been active since the 1970s.

Urban Meyer was born in Toledo, and raised in Ashtabula, where he attended Saint John High School, then became a student of psychology at the University of Cincinnati, graduating with a BA in psychology in 1986. During his studies, Meyer started playing football, proving very talented, but was also selected by the Atlanta Braves to play in the 1982 Major League Baseball Draft. As a student, Meyer became a member of Sigma Chi Fraternity. Soon after, he continued his studies at the Ohio State University in Sports Administration. After he received his masters degree, Meyer tried himself as a defensive back coach at the Saint Xavier High School in Cincinnati, Ohio. After that, he was hired as a graduate assistant at Ohio State, and for the next thirteen years he worked as an assistant coach at Illinois State, Notre Dame and Colorado State universities. His first head coaching job was as a coach of the Bowling Green Falcons football team at the Bowling Green State University in 2001. He stayed there for two years, completely changing the Green Falcons franchise, having an 8-3 winning record in his first season, and 9-3 the next year.

Meyer then headed for the University of Utah.where his career became even more successful, recording 10-2 in his first season, the best in the history of the University for a new head coach.

In 2005, Meyer was hired as the head coach of the Florida Gators, at which he stayed until 2010. With the Gators, Meyer won two National Championships, in 2006, and 2008.

After a relatively poor season with a record of 7-5, he decided to leave the Gators, and professional football on the whole. Instead, he became the commentator of college football games for ESPN,during the 2010-2011 season, which also added to his net worth.

However, after a year of absence, Meyer decided to return to professional coaching, and he took over the Ohio State University team, which he currently coaches. He has added one more National Championship trophy to his collection in 2014.

During his career, Urban has earned several awards, such as National Coach of the Year in 2003, Woody Hayes Trophy in 2004, and also Sports Illustrated Coach of the Decade in 2009.

If to talk about his personal life, Urban Meyer married Shelley in 1986, with whom he has two daughters and a son – hey met each other while they were students., and currently live in Dublin, Ohio. Meyer is known for his philanthropic work; with Billy Donovan he was named co-chairman of an effort to raise $50 million, and support the Florida Opportunity Scholars Program. He also donated money with Kyle Whittingham to the Elder Joseph B. Wirthlin Family Scholarship.
