How rich is Torry Holt? As of early 2017, sources estimate his net worth at $16.7 million, earned over his sporting career which spanned 1999 to 2010.

Holt spent his childhood in Gibsonville, North Carolina, and attended Eastern Guilford High School there, where he enjoyed great success as part of the football team – The Charlotte Observer named him one of the top 25 players in the state. After Guilford High, Holt moved on to Hargrave Military Academy, and matriculated to North Carolina State University in 1995, where he studied for a degree in sociology, and played with the NC State Wolfpack. His college statistics include a total of 31 touchdowns and 3,379 yards run. In 1998, he was named Atlantic Coast Conference Offensive Player of the Year.

Holt was selected sixth in the 1999 NFL Draft by the St Louis Rams for a $10 million contract with $5.4 million in signing bonuses. Over the next decade, he would score a total of 74 touchdowns, the second most in the history of the team – during this time, the offensive players for the Rams were nicknamed “The Greatest Show on Turf” by fans. Holt also earned the nickname “The Big Game”. He played in seven Pro Bowls while with the Rams, (2000-2001 and 2003-2007) and started 147 out of a possible 158 games.

Holt was released from his contract with the Rams in March of 2009 and was signed by the Jacksonville Jaguars the next month in a $20 million deal. He remained with the team until February of 2010, meaning that he made only $3.45 million from the contract. In April, he moved to the New England Patriots in a one year, $1.7 million dollar deal, though his play for the team was short lived due to a serious knee injury which necessitated surgery. He was released in August and, on the 4th of April, 2012, signed back to the St Louis Rams to retire as a member of the team.

In 2016, Holt was a semi-finalist for the second year for the Football Hall of Fame. He is widely considered to be one of the best players of all time, and still holds a number of NFL records, ranking in the top ten in career receiving yards, two seasons with 1600 yards receiving, and 868 receptions in a single decade (2000-20009).

Since 2010, Holt broadcasts for both Fox Sports and the NFL Network, commentating on games and providing analysis on shows such as “NFL Total Access”. He is also assistant coach for Heritage High School in North Carolina.

In his personal life, Torry Holt is married to Carla. He is the older brother of Terrence Holt, also a professional player. Together, they own the Holt Brothers company, which incorporates a construction business, and a philanthropic organisation which helps to provide footballing opportunities. Holt once appeared in a music video, cameoing in “Air Force Ones” by the rapper Nelly.
