Tameka Cottle Wiki Biography

Born as Tameka Pope on the 14th July 1975, in Jonesboro, Georgia USA, Tameka Cottle is a singer and songwriter, perhaps best known for being a member of the R&B group Xscape from its inception until disbandment in 2000, alongside other famous artists of the R&B scene LaTocha Scott, Tamika Scott and Kandi Burruss in its original lineup. Over the course of her career, Tameka has received several awards including the Best New R&B Artist and Best R&B Album and the A-Town Music Award for Best Duo/Group, while still performing with the group.

Have you ever wondered how rich Tameka Cottle is? According to sources, it is estimated that Tameka Cottle`s overall net worth is $8 million, having earned the majority of her wealth through her career in music; however since the break-up of the group Tameka has appeared in front of the camera in reality TV shows such as “Tiny And Toya” (2009) and “T.I. And Tiny: Family Hustle” (2011) which have also added to Tameka`s net worth.

Tameka grew up College Park, Georgia; her father, Charles Pope, was a part of the music industry back in his days, as a member of the R&B group The Tams, which clearly had an influence on Tameka taking part in music as well. She attended the Tri-Cities Performing Arts High School, where she met the members of the group Xscape, and soon became a member herself. Since she became a part of the group, Tameka took the nickname Tiny, which has stayed with her until present day. The original line-up included also Tamera Coggins, however, she left the band before their first album was released.

In 1992, the group performed at the Martin Luther King Jr. birthday celebration and was spotted by the producer Jermaine Dupri, who soon signed the group to his own record label So So Def Recordings. The following year the group released their debut album “Hummin` Comin` At Cha”, which became an immediate success since it peaked at No. 17 on the Billboard Top 200 and took 3rd position on the Top R&B Albums chart. From then Tameka`s net worth began to increase and ventures with the group became the main source of her net worth until 2000 when the band broke up.

In 1995 the group released their second studio album entitled “Off The Hook”, which wasn`t as successful as their first release; however, it surely added a substantial amount to Tameka`s overall net worth, as the songs “Who Can I Run To” and “Do You Want To” entered into the top 10 on the Billboard Hot 100 at respectable positions 8 and 9. Their last studio album came three years later entitled “Traces Of My Lipstick and made its debut on the 28th place on the Billboard Top 200 chart. Some of the most popular songs of the album include “The Arms Of The One Who Loves You” and “My Little Secret” both breaking into the top 10 of the Hot 100 chart at positions 7 and 9.

Soon after the release, LaTocha Scott left the group and other members decided to go on a hiatus. After leaving the group, Tameka stayed in music, and in 2000 teamed up with Kandi Burruss to write “No Scrubs“, which turned out to be a hit song for the band TLC. For that work, Tameka earned a Grammy Award for the Best R&B Song, which also benefited her net worth. She has also collaborated with other popular artists such as Sporty Thievz, T.I. and Lil` Kim.

In 2014, she returned to music as a solo artist, releasing the single “What The Fuck You Gon Do”, which became a tremendous success, as it topped the R&BSoul chart in less than a day after release, also adding to her net worth.

When it comes to her personal life, Tameka has been married to rapper T.I. since 2010, with whom she has three children. She also has a daughter Zonnique Pullins from one of her relationships in the past. With her, Tameka was a part of the short-lived R&B group OMG, which also featured Kiesha Miles.
