Sam Houser Wiki Biography

Sam Houser was born on 24 May 1971, in London, England, and is a video game developer and producer; his brother Dan also works similarly. Sam is the founder and president of Rockstar Games and one of the creators of the series “Grand Theft Auto”, and the director and producer of the video game “Grand Theft Auto III”. Sam and his brother appeared in the list of 100 people who most influence the world according to the magazine Time. Houser has been active in the gaming industry since 1988.

How much is the net worth of Sam Houser? It has been authoritatively reported that the overall size of his wealth is as much as $100 million, as of the data presented in the middle of 2016. Video games development is the main source of Houser’s fortune.

To begin with, the brothers were raised by their parents, actress Geraldine Moffat and solicitor Walter Houser. As a child, he liked playing arcade video games like “Mr. Do!” and “Elite”. Sam was educated at St. Paul’s School in London, and then studied at the University of London and the University of Cambridge. Afterwards, he moved to USA, in 2007 becoming a citizen.

With the help of his father, Houser was appointed as a video producer in the company of BMG Entertainment. Later, Houser was transferred to the division of the Interactive Publishing which developed video games. In his capacity, Sam had to work only as the executive producer of video games, however, he created some games under the franchise of “Grand Theft Auto”, and then worked as the creator and executive producer of “Grand Theft Auto III” (2001), being responsible for what the game is today, a huge success in all its editions. The series produced a distorted and unique view of New York (Liberty City), Miami in the 1980s (Vice City) and finally on California’s tumultuous 1990s and 2013 (San Andreas). This project became a significant source of Sam’s net worth.

Sam also produced other video games, including “Max Payne” (2001), “Max Payne 2: The Fall of Max Payne” (2003), “Manhunt” (2004), “The Warriors” (2005), “Bully (2006), “Red Dead Redemption” (2010) and others. Overall, all the above mentioned works have increased the total size of Sam Houser’s net worth.

In addition to this, the television film featuring Houser “The Gamechangers” (2015) was created by Owen Harris; the role of Sam was created by the actor Daniel Radcliffe. The docudrama tells the story of the controversy caused by “Grand Theft Auto”; it is worth saying that after the first released of “Grand Theft Auto”, Sam was blamed for creating a new form of violence. The attorney Jack Thomson wanted to ban the game, because of the supposed psychological effects of violent video games, yet he did not succeed.

Finally, in the personal life of Sam Houser, he is married and has two children, and currently lives in Brooklyn, New York. Despite being the producer of the highly acclaimed series, Houser is far from being a celebrity, preferring to always keep away from interviews and the press.
