Ron Dayne Wiki Biography
Ronald “Ron” Dayne is an ex- professional American Football player, born on 14th March 1978, in Blacksburg, Virginia, USA. He set the major college record for career rushing yards for the University of Wisconsin, winning the 1999 Heisman Trophy, and played professionally as a running back in the National Football League(NFL) for eight seasons for the Denver Broncos, Houston Texans and New York Giants.
Have you ever wondered how rich Ronald Dayne is? According to sources it has been estimated that Ron Dayne’s overall net worth is $4 million, accumulated largely through a seven-year long professional career, during which he was multiple-awarded. Since he is now involved in numerous marketing activities, and has partnerships in a variety of businesses, his net worth continues to grow.
Dayne grew up as a child of divorced parents, and so was sent to live with relatives in Pine Hill, New Jersey. While attending Overbrook High School, his athletic skills made him a star, so he was pursued by many colleges. He won the New Jersey Meet of Champions in 1995, setting a new meet record in the discus throw. Despite the beliefs of many that he was too big to be a tailback, coach Barry Alvarez promised him that position and persuaded Ron to come and play for the University of Wisconsin where he played for the University’s football team from 1996-1999, and became known as the “Great Dayne” and “The Dayne Train”. In the final game of the 1999 season, Ron broke the college record for rushing yards with a total of 6,397. The same year, he won the Heisman Trophy, and other college awards including Big Ten Player of the year for 1999 and All-American placement, following 1996 and 1998.
Dayne was the 11th pick of the 2000 NFL Draft by the New York Giants, a team in which he soon teamed up with Tiki Barber and formed a tandem known as “Thunder and Lightning”, due to a combination of his power and Barber’s speed. After four seasons, Ron signed a one-year deal with the Denver Broncos for the 2005 season, which saw him win the CBS Thanksgiving All-Iron Award that year. A year later, he was signed by the Houston Texans, where he excelled once again, after rushing for 429 yards and 5 touchdowns, before he officially retired in November 2007. His net worth was certainly well established.
In 2009, Ron was inducted into the University of Wisconsin-Madison’s Athletic Hall Of Fame alongside fellow NFL player Joe Panos and MLB pitcher Thornton Kipper, and in December 2011 he was inducted into the Rose Bowl game thanks to his contributions. Two years later, he was inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame.
When it comes to his private life, Ron is married to Alia Lester, and the couple has two children.
Dayne participates in a variety of charitable activities, including spending time at the American Family Children’s Hospital and supporting a local charity Madison4Kids, which helps children in the Madison community.
