Robert Perry Golic was born on the 26th October 1957, in Cleveland, Ohio, USA, and is a former professional American Football player. who played defensive tackle in the National Football League (NFL) for the New England Patriots (1979–1981), Cleveland Browns (1982–1988), and Los Angeles Raiders (1989–1992). Golic is a three-time Pro Bowler, and two-time All-Pro. His career started in 1979 and ended in 1992.

Bob Golic was a son of Louis Robert and Catherine Golic and grew up in Ohio with his two brothers, Greg and Mike. He went to St. Joseph’s High School, and participated in both football and wrestling, recorded notable results in wrestling. Golic then received a football scholarship from the University of Notre Dame, where he played football for the Fighting Irish and was voted into the first-team All-American in 1978. Bob graduated with a Bachelors degree in management, and was also one of the best wrestlers in the country with the record of 54-4-1.

The New England Patriots selected Golic as the 52nd pick overall in the 1979 NFL Draft, and he spent three seasons there before the Patriots cut him and he moved to the Cleveland Browns. The Browns deployed him successfully as a defensive back instead of linebacker, and he stayed with them for the next seven years, earning three invitations to the Pro Bowl from 1985 to 1987. Golic played his last four seasons for the Los Angeles Raiders before retiring in 1992. In 187 games in the NFL, Bob Golic recorded 22.5 sacks and one interception.

Golic made his on-screen debut in 1985 in “Masters of the Gridiron”, and then appeared in “The Taking of Beverly Hills” (1991), “Da Vinci’s War” (1993) starring John Travolta, and in 19 episodes of “Saved by the Bell: The College Years” (1993-1994). Bob also hosted various radio talk programs, and served as an analyst for the NBC from 1994 to 1996, while in 2004 he returned to Ohio to work on WNIR 100.1 FM in Akron. He briefly owned a restaurant called Bob Golic’s Sports Bar & Grille, but it closed in 2014, and currently he is a Vice President of Football Operations for the Cleveland Crush, the Lingerie Football League expansion team.

Regarding his personal life, Bob Golic was married to Jacqueline Benlein from 1983 to 1994 and has a child with her, and later he married a former ballerina Karen Baughman in 1996 and has two children with her; they reside in Solon, Ohio.
