Robert Kirkman Wiki Biography
Robert Kirkman was born on 30 November 1978, in Richmond, Kentucky USA. He is perhaps most widely recognized as the creator of “The Walking Dead”, both the comic series and some of the episodes of the famous horror TV series adaptation.
So how rich exactly is Robert Kirkman? Sources estimate his current net worth to be $20 million, most of his wealth being accumulated through his work as a comic book author, plus being one of the writers of the episodes of TV series “The Walking Dead” has also significantly raised his net worth.
Robert Kirkman wrote his first successful comic book entitled “Battle Pope” in 2000 with the help of artist Tony Moore. It was a parody of the superhero genre mixed with Biblical symbolism and dark humor. Despite its controversial themes, the comic book ran successfully and in 2005 was reprinted by “Image Comics” in color and in 2008 “Battle Pope” became an animated series on “Spike” TV channel.
The second successful Kirkman’s project was a story about a superhero entitled “Invincible” which he created in 2003 with artist Cory Walker. In the same year he released another comic which raised Kirkman’s success and net worth to a whole new level. There were some problems when Kirkman tried to publish the first issues of “The Walking Dead” as zombies weren’t seen as something that audiences might enjoy. However, Robert managed to sell the first issue and the comic gained instant popularity. In 2010, “The Walking Dead” won the Eisner Award in the category of “Best Continuing series”. In the same year, the first episode of “The Walking Dead” apocalyptic horror TV series adaptation was released on AMC. Not surprisingly, Kirkman was chosen to work as one of the writers for the episodes of this show. In addition, as show gained increasing popularity, Kirkman has published three non-graphic novels of “The Walking Dead”, which were entitled “The Walking Dead: Rise of the Governor” (in 2011), “The Walking Dead: The Road to Woodbury” (in 2012) and “The Walking Dead: The Fall of the Governor” (in 2013). Currently, Kirkman is one of the co-authors to the spin-off horror TV show “Fear The Walking Dead” which should be released in the summer of 2015.
In 2004, Kirkman started working for one of the biggest comic book publishing companies Marvel Comics, which also boosted Kirkman’s already impressive net worth. Kirkman is known for working on such popular comic book titles as “Avengers Disassembled”, “Jubilee”, “Fantastic Four”, “Ultimate X-Men”, “Marvel Team-Up” and “Irredeemable Ant-Man”. However, in 2008, Kirkman ended his associations with Marvel Comics and became one of the partners of Image Comics. Currently, Kirkman is working on a science fiction feature film entitled “AIR”, which is scheduled to be released in 2015 and will be the first film produced by Robert Kirkman.
In his personal life, Robert Kirkman is married and has two children, one of whom is named Peter Parker, after the famous superhero Spider-Man.
