Robert Barisford “Bobby” Brown Wiki Biography

Robert Barisford “Bobby” Brown was born on 5 February 1969, in Roxbury, Massachusetts USA, and is known today as an R&B singer with some notable hits recorded during his musical career which began in the late 1970s . He became one of the top-line rappers in the ‘80’s when he started to work with the band New Edition, and later continued his career with such hits as “Every Little Step” and “My Prerogative”. Besides a successful career as a musician, Bobby is also known as an actor, dancer and singer-songwriter.

So just how rich is Bobby Brown?  Authoritative sources have estimated that Bobby’s net worth is over $5 million, as of early 2017, accumulated during his career in music which now spans over 40 years.

Somewhat surprisingly, Bobby and four friends formed New Edition in the late ‘70s, at a very tender age, but in 1982 they signed to Maurice Starr’s record label, and released their debut album “Candy Girl”, the single with the same title becoming a million seller. However, disagreements common in ambitious young groups saw Brown leave in 1986, and launch his solo career.

Brown has released five musical albums since – the first was “King of Stage” in 1986, and the last one appeared in shops in 2012, called “The Masterpiece”. One of the most popular of Bobby’s albums is “Don’t be Cruel”, released in 1988 on MCA Records, which became the 33rd best-selling album of the decade, selling over five million copies.  Bobby’s musical career back in the 1980s was much more crowd-pulling, and nowadays his name is somewhat in decline.

However, this hasn’t stopped Bobby from adding to his wealth, The musician starred in his own reality series in the early ‘90s called “Being Bobby Brown”, which was commercially successful. In the show Bobby worked with another famous pop singer, Whitney Houston – they actually married in April 1992/ Bobby Brown has also appeared in movies, beginning with “Ghostbusters 2” in 1989, and as Michael in “Two Can Play That Game” in 2001, and the 2003 “Gang of Roses” in which he played Left-Eye Watkins. Bobby Brown’s main TV starring roles have been in “The Wire”, “Michael Jackson: 30th Anniversary Celebration”, “Being Bobby Brown” and “Celebrity Fit Club”, all of which contributed somewhat to his bank account.

In his personal life, Bobby and Whitney Houston divorced in 2007 – they had a daughter, Bobbi Kristina Brown in 1993, who died from unexplained causes in 2015.  In 2012 Bobby married Alicia Etheredge, but his reputation as a good husband and father of four children is likely doubtful; since August 2012 Bobby has apparently been undergoing treatment in rehab for alcoholism, following, two arrests in 2012  for DUI. However, when he re-offended in 2013, Bobby was sent to the jail for 55 days.
