Rich Wyatt Wiki Biography

Rich Wyatt was born in the United States of America, and was a law enforcement officer, firearms instructor and businessman who is best known for creating the gun manufacturing business called Gunsmoke Guns in the 1980s, and then becoming a reality television star,. His popularity rose when he starred in the Discovery Channel reality series “American Guns”, however, there are continued questions about the authenticity of his career claims, plus recent felony charges regarding gun sales. However, all of his efforts have helped put his net worth to where it is today.

How rich is Rich Wyatt? As of early 2018, sources estimate a net worth that is at $10 million, mostly earned through success in business and his appearances on reality television. However, the growth of his wealth was impeded after he was found guilty of violating federal firearm laws and regulations, for which he awaits sentence, so time will tell if his net worth will continue to increase.

Rich’s early life including education is devoid of detail, but he started out in law enforcement and apparently spent 22 years in that career, 20 of which he served as the Chief of Police in Alma, Colorado. He then worked as a fireman, and also built his own guns, then deciding to become a firearms instructor and established his own gun manufacturing company in the 1980s, entitled Gunsmoke Guns. He became the CEO of the company, and one of his first television appearances was in the series “Don’t Be A Victim”, in which he was featured as an expert firearms demonstrator.

Thanks to the success of his company, Wyatt’s net worth increased significantly – he was known to create the first double barreled cannon which actually worked, with the help of his Gunsmoke team. “American Guns” started in 2011 and featured him along with his family in Wheat Ridge, Colorado. The show aired their day to day activities such as gun manufacture, customization, trade and instruction, and received strong ratings being compared to other popular Discovery Channel series. Rich oversaw the production of the show, and even expanded to other activities including a web series on the YouTube channel – “Gunsmoke Guns TV”. He also established a Facebook page entitled “American Guns’ Facebook Page”. However, Discovery Channel cancelled the show in 2012, with many believing that the Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting was a contributing factor in the decision.

In 2013, the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) undertook a financial investigation of the Gunsmoke Guns company, after a robbery that happened early in the year, as well as due to Rich’s remarks about pending Colorado legislation regarding gun ownership and purchase. He lost his Federal Firearms License (FFL) due to violation of laws and regulations for firearms, however, the operation of Gunsmoke Guns continued even during the IRS investigation of tax evasion. The store was eventually shut down, and in 2016 Wyatt was charged with tax fraud. The following year, he was found guilty of 10 felony counts including conspiracy to deal in firearms without a license. He was also charged with the illegal importation of weapons – sentencing was supposed to happen in July 2017, but problems after his attorney quit have delayed proceedings.

For his personal life, it is known that Rich is married to Renee Wyatt and they have four children; two of Renee’s children are from a previous marriage. The two children Kurt and Paige were also featured on “American Guns”, with Kurt setting-up to join his stepfather’s enterprise.
