Parrish Smith Wiki Biography

Parrish J. Smith was born on the 13th May 1968, in Long Island, New York City USA, and is a musician, rapper and cinematographer who is best known under his stage name – PMD (Parrish Mic Doc or Parrish Making Dollars). He is widely recognized for being a member of EPMD rap duo, as well as for his solo releases including hit singles “Rugged-n-Raw”, “I Saw It Coming” and “Swing Your Own Thing”.

Have you ever wondered how much wealth this east coast rapper has accumulated so far? How rich Parrish Smith is? According to sources, it is estimated that the total of Parrish Smith’s net worth, as of early 2017, revolves around the sum of $1.5 million, acquired through his music career which has been active for over 30 years.

Parrish grew up in Long Island’s Brentwood, where he attended Brentwood High School before enrolling at Howard University from which he graduated with a degree in film production, majoring in cinematography. During his studies, Parrish shot over 50 short films and was honored with a Paul Robeson Award. Upon graduation, he worked on several music videos, collaborating with Wu-Tang Clan, Jaheim and Naughty by Nature among a dozen others. These engagements provided the basis for Parrish Smith’s net worth.

Alongside his childhood friend Eric Sermon, Parrish Smith in 1986 founded the rap duo EPMD (Eric and Parrish Making Dollars). Their debut studio album – “Strictly Business” – hit the charts in 1988, featuring an eponymous underground hit single. The album was warmly received by the critics, and the audiences made it a real commercial success, and which was quickly followed by “Unfinished Business”, released in 1989; this album provided the hit single “So Wat Cha Sayin’” and peaked at No. 1 on the Top Hip-Hop Albums chart. His third album “Business as Usual” – released in 1990, managed to beat the success of the previous two releases, and featured the No. 1 Hot Rap Single “Gold Digger”. It is certain that all these achievements helped Parrish Smith to establish himself in the world of music, and also add a significant sum to his net worth.

In 1993, Smith and Sermon parted their ways and focused on their solo careers. Parrish’s debut solo studio album “Shade Business” hit the charts in 1994 and peaked at No. 12 on the Billboard Top Hip-Hop Albums chart. This was followed by his second album entitled “Business Is Business”, released in 1996. In 1997, he and Eric teamed up again as EPMD and released a comeback album “Back In Business”, and prior to their second breakup in 2005, they released “Out of Business” in 1999. Smith’s third solo studio album “The Awakening” was released in 2003, while his most recent recording is the 2013 EP “New Business (From My Hood to Your Hood)”. In 2006, EPMD reunited again, and in 2008 released their, so far, seventh studio album “We Mean Business”. Doubtlessly, all these accomplishments have helped Parrish Smith to dramatically increase the amount of his wealth.

Apart from music, Smith has added several motion picture directing and producing credits to his professional portfolio, such as “Land of the Free” (2004), “A Message from Pops” (2005), “Lavender: An Adaptation” (2005), “Programas” (2006) as well as “Man in the Mirror” (2008), “Nocturnal Agony” (2011) and his award-winning documentary series “The Scroll”.

When it comes to his personal life, Parrish Smith has managed to keep it away from public eyes and ears, as there isn’t any relevant data about his private matters or affairs.
