Nicholas Lofton Hexum was born on the 12th April 1970, in Madison, Wisconsin USA, and is a singer/rapper and songwriter, best known as a vocalist and guitarist of the alternative rock band 311. Hexum’s career started in 1988.

Nick Hexum was born a son of Pat and Dr. Terry Hexum and, and went to the Westside High School in Omaha where he played in the school jazz band and was also a member of local bands such as The Extras, The Right Profile, Unity, and The Eds. Hexum moved to Los Angeles to pursue a musical career in the late 80s, but his friend Chad Sexton convinced him to return to Omaha and help in forming a band. Soon after, Aaron Wills and Jim Watson joined them, and they started the band called 311.

In 1990, Hexum formed his record company What Have You Records and released the band’s debut album “Dammit!”. It’s a very rare collection, and it can only be found on cassettes, as well as their second and third releases called “Unity” in 1991 and “Hydroponic” in 1992. However, their first commercial success came in 1993 when they recorded “Music” that achieved gold status and reached No. 37 on the Top Heatseekers chart, which only increased his net worth.

They released “Universal Pulse” in 2011 and “Stereolithic” in 2014, their two latest albums. Hexum also formed The Nick Hexum Quintet and recorded an album called “My Shadow Pages” in 2013, sales also adding to his net worth.
