Misty Copeland Wiki Biography
Misty Danielle Copeland is a Kansas City, Missouri-born American ballet dancer who is currently associated with the American Ballet Theatre. Born on 10 September, 1982, she has German, African-American as well as Italian ancestry. A very well received classical dancer, Misty has been active in the field of ballet dancing since 1995. She has also been listed as one of the 100 most influential people in the world by Times magazine in 2015.
One of the top ballet dancers in the world in her time, how rich is Misty Copeland? As of 2015, Misty has amassed a net worth of $500,000. Obviously, most of her wealth comes from her successful ballet dancing career which she started when she was only a teenager. Given her inclination and passion towards dancing, Misty rose to fame with her impeccable dancing skills in her early teenage years.
Misty was raised in Los Angeles, California by her mother. She was not introduced to ballet dancing untll the age of thirteen, but after she began dancing, she quickly excelled in the art and was an award-winner as she won Los Angeles Music Center Spotlight awards at fifteen, and in the same year Misty had some legal issues, filing for emancipation as she thought her mother was not complementing her career as a ballet dancer, with her mother counter-filing for a restraining order. After solving these issues and returning home, Misty was fully supported by her mother in her ballet dancing training. A bright student in school, Misty graduated from San Piedro High School.
As Misty reached the age of eighteen, she was given an opportunity to intern at the American Ballet Theatre. Eventually after dancing with groups, she was promoted as a solo dancer being one of the few African American dancers in history to be promoted to that position, a situation maintained to this day. Hyped for her skillful and flawless dancing with a classical touch, Misty became one of the best dancers in American Ballet Theatre in no time. With her every performance, Misty began to grow her fanbase as well as her net worth.
Apart from theatre, Misty has also taken time to perform on Broadway, and has performed in “On the Town”. She has also appeared in television in reality dance shows like “A Day in the Life” and “So You Think You Can Dance”. Further, Misty’s authored autobiographical book “A Ballerina’s Tale” has been made into a full-length documentary film. All of these ventures have been assisting Misty to grow her riches substantially. She has also taken up endorsements, promoting such products as Under Armor, T-Mobile, and Dr. Pepper which will clearly also add to her net worth.
In her personal life, Misty is currently (September 2015) living with her fiancé and long-term boyfriend, Olu Evans in the Upper West Side of Manhattan. Misty Copeland is also no doubt enjoying success as her book “Life in Motion: An Unlikely Ballerina”, co-authored with Charisse Jones, has become a New York Times Bestseller. As she continues her successful career as a flawless dancer, she is very likely to add to her net worth.
