Mike Swick Wiki Biography

Mike Swick was born on the 19th June 1979 in Houston, Texas USA, and is a former professional mixed martial artist (MMA), who was signed to the Ultimate Fighting Championship’s (UFC) middleweight division through a large part of his career, before dropping down to welterweight and eventually retiring.

Have you ever wondered how rich Mike Swick is, as of late 2017? According to authoritative sources, it has been estimated that Swick’s net worth is as high as $4 million, earned through his successful career in MMA, active from 1998 with occasional hiatus, most recently in 2007.

Raised in downtown Houston, Mike went to Katy High School, and after matriculation began taking part in amateur fights across Texas, before professional sanctioning was formed.

His professional career began in 1998 with smaller promotions and events, such as Power Ring Warriors, at which he defeated Victor Bell. He continued with a perfect score and joined World Extreme Cage-fighting, defeatingt James Gabert and Kengo Ura to compile a score of four wins, then five before he faced Chris Leben at WEC 9; the fight turned out to be Mike’s first loss.

Mike then joined the inaugural season of the reality series “The Ultimate Fighter”; he was a part of Randy Couture’s team, but was eliminated from the show in his first fight, as he lost to Stephan Bonnar. However, Mike bounced back at UFC Ultimate Fight Night, in which he faced Gideon Ray. Mike was victorious, just 22 seconds into the match, earning the nickname ‘Quick’ from UFC announcer Mike Goldberg.

Mike then officially became a part of the UFC, and for the next three years fought in the Light Heavyweight division. He faced such opponents as Steve Vigneault, Joe Riggs and David Loiseau against whom he was successful, and then lost to Yushin Okami at UFC 69, after which he dropped down to the Welterweight division. He debuted successfully as he defeated Josh Burkman and then lined up three more victories, including against Ben Saunders, after which he received Knockout of the Night honors, and a cash bonus, increasing his net worth.

In 2009 he was a part of the UFC Welterweight title eliminator match in which he fought against Dan Hardy, however, Mike lost the match, only the third loss of his career, and then lost again, this time to Paulo Thiago.

Following the fight Mike was diagnosed with a stomach disease, which meant a strict diet, and he had to leave fighting. However, it turned out to be a wrong diagnosis, and Mike returned to the ring in 2012, with a victory over Da Marques Johnson, which also earned Mike Knockout of the Night honors and a cash prize. Since 2012, he has fought only twice fights – a loss against Alex Garcia in 2015, his sixth professional loss, and his 16th professional victory against Marc Bogutzki at Street Fight event in Thailand.

He left the UFC in 2015 and moved to Thailand, where he now owns and runs a gym – AKA Thailand.

Mike appeared in the documentary film “Fight Life” (2013), with a number of other mixed martial artists, including Nick Diaz, Herschel Walker, Julianna Pena, John McCarthy, Frank Shamrock, Mark Coleman, Tyron Woodley, Matt Lindland, and many others.

Regarding his personal life, Mike has been married to Mary since 2008, and they have a daughter and a son, and are usually resident in Phuket, Thailand, running Mike’s gym.
