Miesha Tate Wiki Biography
Miesha Theresa Tate, born on the 18th of August 1986, is an American mixed martial artist, famously known for her stint in the Ultimate Fighting Championship, and for being the UFC Bantamweight Champion after defeating Holly Holm in early 2016.
So how much is Tate’s net worth? As of early 2016 it is reported to be $3 million, gained mostly from the prize money of her fights, plus endorsements and appearances.
Growing up in Tacoma, Washington, upon enrolling at Franklin Pierce High School, Tate immediately joined the boy’s wrestling team, and was involved from freshmen until senior year. Even if she was the only female player in her wrestling team, she continued playing and later on her efforts paid off when in her senior year she won the Women’s State Championship for high schools. In college she continued her passion, joining the mixed martial arts club at Central Washington University after one of her former rivals, Rosalia Watson encouraged her to do so.
In November of 2007, Tate had her first professional fight as an MMA fighter at the “HOOKnSHOOT Women’s Grand Prix” tournament, where she defeated Jan Finney. Building her career and net worth, she also fought in several organizations including Cage Sport MMA and Freestyle Cage Fighting, but one of the highlights of her entire career was upon joining Strikeforce, which is a mixture of American MMA and kickboxing organization, where Tate catapulted her way to success and was named one of its women’s bantamweight champions. She faced opponents including Elaina Maxwell, Sarah Kaufman and Zoila Gurgel, but then after three years, in 2013 she moved to the Ultimate Fighting Championship.
Tate’s net worth and mainstream visibility increased during her stint in the UFC because of her fighting style and her back-to-back wins. She defeated opponents Liz Carmouche, Rin Nakai, Sara McMann and Jessica Eye, but the most memorable of all of her wins came in her defeat of Holly Holm in November 2015, Tate defeated Holm, fresh from the latter’s win against former champion Ronda Rousey, and took home the UFC Bantamweight Championship. Reports say that her next opponent will be Ronda Rousey, with whom she has a history dating back to her time in Strikeforce. No dates has been set yet, but reports say the fight will be in 2016.
Aside from her outstanding career in mixed martial arts, Tate also has sponsorships with several companies, including Budweiser, ReyLabs, and Bad Boy Buggies, to name a few. She has also been featured in various publications, posing for magazines like “ESPN”, “Fitness Gurls Magazine” and appeared in the documentary entitled “Fight Life”. Her sponsorships and endorsement of different brands, and participation in different media outlets has helped boost her career and her wealth as well.
In terms of her personal life, Tate is dating fellow UFC fighter, Bryan Caraway.
