Mark Steyn Wiki Biography

Mark Steyn was born on 8 December 1959, in Woodsville, New Hampshire USA, of Jewish and Belgian descent, and is an author and political commentator, perhaps best known for writing the New York Times bestseller entitled “America Alone: The End of the World as We Know It”. All of his efforts have helped put his net worth to where it is today.

How rich is Mark Steyn? As of early-2018, sources estimate a net worth that is at $6 million, earned through success in his numerous endeavors. He also frequently appears in political shows, mainly right-wing productions by Rush Limbaugh, Tucker Carlson, Sean Hannity and Hugh Hewitt. As he continues his career, it is expected that his wealth will also continue to increase.

Mark attended King Edward’s School, Birmingham, which was also attended by author J. R. R. Tolkien. At the age of 16, he left the school to work as a disc jockey, then later worked as a music theatre critic for the newly established The Independent in 1986. Six years later, he started working for The Spectator as a film critic, and it was during this time that he started to focus more on political commentary. He then wrote a column for The Daily Telegraph that lasted until 2006.

More writing opportunities came Steyn’s way, and this allowed his net worth to quickly increase. He has written for numerous publications, including Orange County Register, The New York Sun, The New Criterion, The Atlantic, and National Post. He also started writing books, including a collection of his columns and the history of musical theatre entitled “Broadway Babies Say Goodnight: Musicals Then and Now”. One of his most popular books would be the New York Times bestseller “America Alone: The End of the World as We Know It”, which forecasts the downfall of Western civilization due to internal weakness and Muslim population growth. He then followed up the book with another best seller entitled “After America: Get Ready for Armageddon”, which argues that America is in decline due to national spending and borrowing – he also talks about the rise of Islamic extremism. In 2013, Steyn held a Eugene C. Pulliam Visiting Fellowship in Journalism at the Hillsdale College. He then started recording numerous podcasts as a part of the blog Ricochet.com, and became a frequent guest of “The Rush Limbaugh Show” as well. In 2015, he wrote the book entitled “Climate Change: The Facts”, which is a collection of essays by leading scientists and commentators, written from the perspective of a climate change skeptic. One of his latest projects is the CRTV show entitled “The Mark Steyn Show”, but which was cancelled in early 2017, for which he then sued the television network.

For his work, Mark has received numerous awards including the Henry Salvatori Prize, and the Eric Breindel Award for Excellence in Opinion Journalism.

For his personal life, Steyn is married to Karol Sheinin and they have three children. He’s had a clash with the Canadian Islamic Congress for complaints against human rights of Muslims, but he’s gathered numerous supporters and critics both for his style of writing as well as his content.
