Marcus Stroud Wiki Biography
Born Marcus LaVar Stroud on the 25th June 1978, in Thomasville, Georgia USA, Marcus is a retired American Football defensive tackle, who spent 10 seasons in the NFL, playing for the Jacksonville Jaguars, Buffalo Bills and New England Patriots before retiring.
Have you ever wondered how rich Marcus Stroud is, as of late 2017? According to authoritative sources, it has been estimated that Stroud’s net worth is as high as $11 million, an amount earned through his successful career as an American Football player, active from 2001 until 2011.
Marcus went to Brooks County High School, where he started playing football, winning the state title with the team in 1994. He had a successful high school career, and was sought by several prestigious universities, and though he set his mind on Florida University, he changed his decision and enrolled at the University of Georgia, persuaded by Jim Donnan, Georgia Bulldogs’ football team coach at the time. He played extremely well in a not so great team, but still earned a name for himself, and in 2001 declared for the NFL Draft and was selected by the Jacksonville Jaguars as the 13th overall pick, fourth in his position. After creating a formidable defensive duo with John Henderson, the two earned the nickname Hurricane Henderstroud. He played for the Jaguars until 2007, receiving several honors for his great form, including three Pro Bowl appearances, and selections into AP Second-Team All-Pro in 2003, then PFW First-Team All-AFC in 2003 and 2004, and in 2005 he was named All-Pro by Sporting News. His net worth was certainly well set.
In 2007 it was discovered that Marcus used anabolic steroids and related substances which led to his suspension for four games, and he was later traded to the Buffalo Bills. In 2009 he signed a new contract with the Bills, earning up to $28 million over two years, which increased his wealth to a large degree. However, he was released from the club before his contract expired, and then joined the New England Patriots, but wasn’t good enough for the squad, and after five months at the franchise, he was released.
He retired as a Jaguar, signing a one-day contract with the team that drafted him 10 years earlier.
Regarding his personal life, there is no information about Stroud’s most intimate details, such as marital status and number of children.
He is quite well known in the community; aside from creating the Marcus Stroud Foundation, through which he helps underprivileged youth who live in low-income, single-parent homes, he has also hosted the Marcus Stroud 99 Pro Bowl Football Camp For Kids, among many other philanthropic enterprises.
