Marcus Luttrell Wiki Biography

Marcus Luttrell, former United States Navy Seal and the co-author of bestseller “Lone Survivor: The Eyewitness Account of Operation Redwing and Lost Heroes of Seal Team 10”, was born on 7 November 1995, in Houston, Texas USA. He was the only person on Operation Redwing who survived after being ambushed in Afghanistan.

Best known for his book “The Lost Heroes”, how rich is Marcus Luttrell? Sources estimate that Marcus Luttrell’s net worth is over $1.5 million dollars, mainly accumulated through sales of his New York Time’s best seller books.

Marcus started training for the US Navy Seals when just 15; he and his twin brother Morgan used to train daily along with other aspirants. After completing high school, he enrolled in Sam Houston State University, and later in March 1999 he was enlisted into the United States Navy. He joined the Basic Underwater Demolition/Seal class of 226, but he was injured during the obstacle course and hence couldn’t finish, but he later graduated with the class of 228. He was part of the SEAL team which went to Iraq in 2003 to suppress resistance, and later he was sent to Afghanistan as a member of a four-man team for Operation Redwing. The team was ambushed by locals and everyone in the team was killed except Luttrell, who fell off a mountain and sustained very serious injuries. During the ambush the four men tried unsuccessfully to contact their operational base, and subsequently three of them were killed, and Luttrell had serious injuries which included a broken back, numerous wounds and fractures including from shrapnel. The SEAL team 10 tried to rescue him by bringing in a helicopter which was shot down and the whole team inside it died, but Luttrell was able to evade his pursuers with the help of local villagers, who helped him to reach the nearest US base. After recovering from his injuries, he returned to duty in Iraq with SEAL Team 5.

After returning home in 2007, he co-authored the New York Time’s bestseller Lone Survivor: The Eyewitness Account of operation Redwing and Lost Heroes of Seal Team 10”; later the book was adapted into a film entitled Lone Survivor” starring Mark Wahlberg. He co-authored another book released in 2013 entitled Service: A Navy SEAL at War”. Apart from his books, he has also started a foundation named “Lone Survivor Foundationwith the aim of providing mental and financial support to American soldiers who were somehow effected during their service time, either mentally or physically. Clearly the books are a major source of Marcus’ net worth.

Additionally, “After Action”, a TV show aired on TheBlaze network, is hosted by Marcus Luttrell, which has the aim of encouraging armed-service veterans to talk about their experiences, and about issues in modern-day USA. This project also contributes to Marcus’ wealth.

In his personal life, Luttrell has a wife named Melanie Juneau who has supported him during his post war-time activities, and particularly when he was in mental distress; he states that his wife is the best thing that has ever happened to him. He also owned a Labrador puppy named DASY who was his constant companion; the name DASY contained a letter from the names of each of his four partners who died in Afghanistan mission. DASY was killed in 2009 by four men who were later caught and found guilty of animal cruelty.
