Kyle Eugene Petty is a Level Cross, North Carolina-born American former stock car racing driver who competed notably in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series. Born on 2 June 1960, Kyle is now best known for being the co-host of NBCSN show “NASCAR America”. A son of racer Richard Petty and grandson of racer Lee Petty, Kyle was active as a racing driver himself between the years 1979 and 2008.
The 1987 Coca-Cola 600 winner and a prominent face on television as a host, one may wonder how rich is Kyle Petty at the present? His first race in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series was the 1979 Talladega 500 but his first win was in the 1986 Miller High Life 400. During his career, he won 8 NASCAR Sprint Cup series while being listed in the top ten finishers 173 times.
Kyle has also raced in the NASCAR Xfinity Series as well as in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series. Although he didn’t win any races in these series, he was listed in the top ten finishers 11 times in the NASCAR Xfinity Series. Others of the NASCAR series he has participated in includes the NASCAR Busch Series and Craftsman Truck Series. Apart from NASCAR, Kyle has also raced in International Race of Champions. Of course, all of the prize money from races have added a lot to Kyle’s wealth over the years.
For his contributions towards car racing, Kyle has been rewarded many times with several prestigious awards and recognitions. He was awarded the NASCAR USG Person of the Year in 1998 and 2000 along with being recognized as the NASCAR Illustrated Person of the Year in 1999 and 2000. Others of his achievements include him being the winner of 1987 Coca-Cola 600, and also the winner of the Myers Brothers Award in 2000 and 2004.
