Klaus Meine Wiki Biography
Klaus Meine was born on the 25th May 1948, in Hannover, Germany, and is a musician, singer, songwriter and composer, perhaps best known to the world as the lead vocalist of the hard rock band The Scorpions. Alongside Rudolf Schenker, he is one of only two members that have featured on every Scorpions album. Meine wrote most of band’s lyrics, the most famous being “Wind of Change” (1990), “Rock You Like a Hurricane” (1984), “Still Loving You” (1984), and “Dynamite” (1982) among many others. His career has been active since 1965.
Have you ever wondered how rich Klaus Meine is, as of late-2016? According to authoritative sources, it has been estimated that Meine’s net worth is as high as $20 million, an amount earned through his successful musical career. Apart from being the leader of The Scorpions, Klaus has collaborated with other musicians, such as Uli John Roth, Liel Kolet and Jose Carreras, among others, which has also improved his net worth.
There are no information in the media about Klaus` early life and education.
The Scorpions was formed in 1965 with Rudolf Schenker, having the original idea of a hard rock band; soon Meine joined with Rudolf`s brother Michael and Lothar Heimberg as a bass player, while Wolfgang Dziony played drums. Their debut album came out in 1972, entitled “Lonesome Crow”, however without any major success. Nevertheless, the band earned a gig alongside British band UFO as its opener. Michael left the band soon afterwards, luckily Uli John Rot soon joined to finish the tour, on Michael`s recommendation as the two were close friends. However, Roth didn`t immediately become the band`s member, as he wanted to play in Dawn Road. After the tour ended, Rudolf disbanded The Scorpions, and joined Uli Roth`s band, inviting Meine to join him, with Francis Buchols, Achim Kirschning and Jürgen Rosenthal. However, they soon assumed the name The Scorpions, and the band was reborn. Their second album came out in 1974, entitled “Fly to the Rainbow”, but was also greeted with mixed reviews and low commercial attention.
The Scorpions began to influence Europe`s rock scene from 1979, and the album “Lovedrive”, achieved gold status in Germany and the USA, reaching No. 11 on the German charts. Since then, until the mid-1990s the band reached extreme popularity with albums such as “Animal Magnetism” (1980), “Blackout” (1982), “Love at First Sting” (1984), “Savage Amusement” (1988), “Crazy World” (1990), “Face the Heat” (1993), and “Pure Instinct” (1996), the next more popular than the previous, with “Crazy World” achieving double platinum status in Germany, the USA and Canada, while it was certified silver in Britain, increasing Klaus` net worth by a large margin. Also, it topped the German charts, and ended-up No. 1 in Austria.
After the mid-1990s, band`s popularity began to decline, although their albums remained in high positions on charts, with moderate sales, except for their 2010 album “Sting in the Tail”, which achieved platinum status, adding a substantial amount to Meine`s net worth. The band`s latest, entitled “Return to Forever” was released in 2015, and reached No. 2 on the German charts.
Regarding his personal life, little is known about Klaus Meine in the media, apart from the fact that he has been married to Gabi Meine since 1976, and the couple has a son.
In the past, Klaus has had problems with his voice; while on tour in 1981 and a later album recording, Klaus lost his voice, and couldn`t even speak. Doctors advised him to pursue a different career, but after treatment and vocal cords surgery, Klaus managed to recover, and continue with his now long and successful career. He was named as 22nd Top Heavy Metal Vocalist of All Time in 2006 by Hit Parader.
