American singer/songwriter, record producer and entrepreneur Kenny Rogers, was born on 21 August 1938, in Houston Texas, and is identified as a ‘country singer’ by music fans, but has had over 120 single hits covering several genres. Kenny is known not only as a solo artist, but also a member of such groups as The Scholars, The New Christy Minstrels, and The First Edition with whom he released such singles as “Poor Little Doggie” and “But You Know I Love You”.

Kenny Rogers attended Jefferson Davis High School, and his first introduction to the music industry began with The Scholars, a band with which he recorded music in the mid-1950s.
