Kelly Rowland Wiki Biography

Kelendria Trene Rowland, known simply as Kelly Rowland, is a famous American model, actress, singer and songwriter, television personality, as well as a dancer. Kelly Rowland rose to prominence in 1990, when she became a member of the popular R&B girl group called “Destiny’s Child”, which included Beyoncé Knowles and Michelle Williams. The group released their self-titled album in 1998 to largely positive critical reviews and earned a spot on the Billboard 200 music chart for 26 consecutive weeks. Three years later in 2001, “Destiny’s Child” came out with “Survivor”, which was later featured in the list of “Top 200 Albums of the Decade”. In addition to selling more than 4.7 million records in the United States alone, “Survivor” produced such popular singles as “Independent Woman”, “Nasty Girl”, “Bootylicious” and “Survivor”. Over the years, the group collected numerous awards, and was even ranked as one of the greatest musical trios of all time by “Billboard” magazine. When “Destiny’s Child” disbanded in 2006, its members went on to launch successful solo careers and managed to remain relevant in the music industry. Even though the group had broken up, in 2013 “Destiny’s Child” released an anthology called “Destiny’s Child Video Anthology”, and in 2014, Rowland and Knowles were featured in Williams’ song entitled “Say Yes”.

A famous singer and songwriter, how rich is Kelly Rowland? According to sources, in 2011 she earned $750,000 for appearing on the “X Factor UK” show, and collected a sum of $180,000 from the sales of her album “Here I Am”. In 2013, Rowland’s salary from “X Factor UK” rose to $1 million, while her earnings from “Talk a Good Game” album amounted to $220,000. In regards to her wealth, Kelly Rowland’s net worth is estimated to be $20 million, most of which she has accumulated due to her involvement in the entertainment industry.

Kelly Rowland was born in 1981, in Georgia, United States. She studied at the Lamar High School in Texas, before she became a member of a popular girl group. However, despite the fact that Rowland is perhaps best known for being a part of “Destiny’s Child”, she has managed to become a successful solo artist. Rowland debuted with her solo album entitled “Simply Deep” in 2002. The album, which sold more than 77,000 copies during its first week, produced such singles as “Can’t Nobody”, “Stole” and “Dilemma” with Nelly, which received a Grammy Award for “Best Rap/Sung Collaboration”. Since then, Rowland has released four solo albums, the most recent being “Talk a Good Game”, released in 2013 to mostly positive critical reviews. For her contributions to music, Kelly Rowland has received several Grammy Awards, Soul Train Music Awards, and International Dance Music Awards.

Aside from singing, Rowland made her acting debut in a supporting role in Ronny Yu’s slasher film called “Freddy vs. Jason”, and more recently, in 2012, starred opposite Michael Ealy, Meagan Good and Regina Hall in Tim Story’s romantic comedy film “Think Like a Man”.

A well-known singer, Kelly Rowland has an estimated net worth of $20 million.

Kelly Rowland Quotes

  • [on Sade] I’ve never heard music that makes you feel so warm and at ease, besides maybe Miles Davis or John Coltrane. Sade can never be duplicated.
  • [on Oprah] Nobody’s perfect, but she comes so close! She’s like the female version of God. She inspires me to work hard and give back.
  • The song I have on repeat right now would probably have to be Chris Brown’s “Beautiful People”. It’s such an amazing record. As soon as I hear it, I can’t stop moving. And I smile so big and it’s great when music makes you do that.
  • Freddy vs. Jason (2003) actually kind of landed in my lap. I went out for the audition, and I think, two hours later, my agent called me back and said ‘Kelly, you got the part!’
