Kathleen Erin Walsh was born on 13 October 1967, in San Jose, California, USA, to Angela of Italian descent, and Patrick Walsh of Irish ancestry, and is best known as the actress who played Mother in ‘‘The Perks Of Being A Wallflower’’, and Dr. Addison Montgomery in ‘‘Grey’s Anatomy’’.

So just how rich is Kate Walsh as of early 2018? According to authoritative sources, this actress has net worth of over $22 million, with her wealth being accumulated from her over two decades long career in the previously mentioned field.

Speaking about her high school education, Walsh attended Catalina Magnet High School and then Rincon High School, then enrolled into the University of Arizona, and additionally studied acting at Chicago’s Piven Theatre Workshop. After that, she joined Burn Manhattan, a New York-based comedy troupe, but also worked as a waitress to support herself. Walsh made her acting debut with a role in ‘‘Normal Life’’, in which she played Cindy Anderson in 1996, and had several more projects during that year, most importantly playing Cricket in ‘‘Henry II: Portrait of a Serial Killer’’, a crime horror movie. In 1997 through 2001 Walsh was cast to play Nicki Fifer / Nicki Fifer Carey in ‘‘The Drew Carey Show’’, and left it having appeared in its 21 episodes. In 2003, Kate joined the cast of an Oscar nominated comedy romance film, ‘‘Under The Tuscan Sun’’, and in the next year played Mimosa in an episode of ‘‘CSI: Crime Scene Investigation’’, a worldwide popular television series, steadily raising her net worth.

Walsh then had several support roles in movies, such as ‘‘Inside Out’’ and ‘‘Bewitched’’, before in 1995 she began portraying Dr. Addison Montgomery in ‘‘Grey’s Anatomy’’, a worldwide appraised television series which follows the professional and private lives of a group of medical workers; the series achieved vast success, and was rewarded with two Golden Globes an impressive 67 other awards, in addition to being nominated for 206 more. Being in such a prominent project had great significance for Kate’s career as well as her net worth, and she certainly gained more attention from the media during the seven years she remained in the show.

In the meantime, she had other projects as well – in 2007, she was cast to play Nemesii, one of the main characters in ‘‘Veritas, Prince of Truth’’, working side by side with Sean Patrick Flanery and Bret Loehr, and the same year had one more prominent project, playing the role of Dr. Addison Forbes Montgomery, the main character in ‘‘Private Practice’’, which eventually aired for six seasons, and ended in 2013. The series was rewarded with BMI TV Music Award, Image Award and Prism Award, among others. In 2014, she had an important role in ‘‘Just Before I Go’’, a comedy drama movie in which she collaborated with actors such as Sean William Scott and Olivia Thirlby, and in the same year she starred as Rebecca Wright in ‘‘Bad Judge’’.

When it comes to Walsh’s latest projects, she portrayed Olivia Baker in ‘‘13 Reasons Why’’, one of the most controversial series of 2017,which follows the story of a girl who commits suicide, after being sexually harassed – however, it was nominated for a Golden Globe Award.

To conclude, Kate has made a name and accumulated significant net worth for herself working on over 70 acting gigs so far.

When it comes to her private life, Walsh was married to Alex Young from 2007 until 2010. In 2015, she was diagnosed with a benign meningioma, and after successful surgery she took a nine months break in order to recover. Walsh is active on social media such as Twitter and Instagram, and is followed by the army of 880,000 people on the former and 1.4 million on the latter.

Kathleen Erin Walsh Quotes

  • I drink tons of water. When you’re puffy, you think you can’t drink water since you feel more bloated and gross but that’s what you do to get the toxins out of your system. I put a little lemon in the water bottle that I carry around with me or drink a cup of hot water with lemon. It’s a natural diuretic.
  • No matter what job you do, we all have a much different life than our parents had. My parents’ generation had one job and then they retired. Now, people have many different jobs.
  • I’ve done every diet there is.
  • My mom, she’s a breast cancer survivor and because of that I had started getting mammograms once a year, starting at age 30.
  • Age is just a number. Unless, that is, you live in Hollywood, where there’s this notion that if you haven’t hit it big by your 20s, you may as well hit the road.
  • People always say you can’t do a red lip if you have red hair but I’ve never shied away from it. I think you can absolutely do that. It’s more about hair colour and complexion.
  • For me, my 20s were all about reaching for the brass ring of work in theater, television, and film, surviving in between by waiting tables, painting houses, serving coffee, and temping.
  • I used to skip breakfast, but eating gets my metabolism going, so I burn more calories all day.
  • I would definitely love to be a parent.
  • I’m lucky. I’ve got pretty good genes.
  • I’m not a clean freak. My house is a mess.
  • I’m stronger and sassier as a redhead.
  • I don’t think anyone gets married thinking that they will get divorced.
  • I have always been the girl who keeps on trying. I try! I try!
  • I loved campaigning for Obama.
  • I struggle with control.
  • I try to cook dinner, but it’s difficult when I’m working.
  • I like to eat right and in moderation, but give myself treats and kind of have everything.
  • I do Pilates, and hike with my dog.
  • I still like to make crank calls.
  • Acting was all I ever really wanted to do.
  • I don’t like to take a lot of stuff since I’m really sensitive to medications.
  • Sometimes I hope that through osmosis I might get a workout – just by wearing the clothes.
  • I think a lot of people just aren’t aware how young you can be and be diagnosed with breast cancer.
  • There are lots of different ways for women to be a mom in this culture.
  • You never want to rest on your laurels. You want to keep doing things that terrify you.
  • My very first job was a cashier at Burger King in Tucson, Arizona. And I occasionally worked the drive-thru. I’d go wherever I was needed! My second job was at Dairy Queen. I stayed in the fast food royalty.
  • I don’t need someone with a hot body. He can be fat or overweight and have a belly. It’s very much about style and substance and humor, interest, curiosity and really being smart.
  • My mother is Italian and my dad’s Irish. In my family, we’re expressive. Nobody holds back.
  • I second-guess myself all the time. I make a decision and then wonder if I made the wrong choice.
  • I’ve got four roommates and they all have fur and tails.
  • I’ve learned over and over that life happens on its own terms, not mine.
