John Williams was born 8 February 1932, in Floral Park, New York USA.. He is a world famous composer – including film scores – pianist, and is a prolific music conductor.

So just how rich is John Williams?  Sources have estimated that his net worth is over $100 million, accumulated during a career in music that has spanned more than 60 years.

John  Williams’ father, Johnny was a jazz percussionist, so John had a start in music. The family moved to Los Angeles in 1948, where John attended North Hollywood High School, and then studied at UCLA, and  privately with the Italian composer Mario Castelnuovo Tedesco. In 1952, Williams was drafted into the US Air Force, where he conducted and arranged music for the US Air Force Band.

Following Air Force service,  in 1955 Williams moved to New York City and entered the Juillard School where he studied piano with Rosina Lhevinne, also working in many clubs and studios as a jazz pianist, most notably with composer Henry Mancini/ During the early 1960s, he served as music arranger and bandleader for a series of popular music albums with the famous singer Frankie Laine. These activities were a solid if unspectacular start to Williams’ net worth.

Subsequently, John Williams has worked as a composer, conductor, and pianist. In particular, and perhaps most famously, amongst the many film scores that John has composed are  for “Indiana Jones”; “E.T.”; “Jaws” “Superman” many of the “Star Wars” series; several of the “Home Alone” series; Jurassic Park; four of the “Harry Potter” seies, “Hook”, “Schindler’s List”, “War Horse” and many more. Of course, a great deal of John Williams’ net worth has come from these compositions.

Further, John Williams composed music for NBC news productions, The Nightly News, and Sunday Night Football, and scored shows such as “Lost in Space” and “Land of the Giants”. His career also consists of conducting classical concerts – he worked as the principal conductor of the Boston Pops Orchestra for 13 years, and became the orchestra’s conductor laureate.

In all, John Williams has composed over 50 concertos, orchestral and chamber works, and more than the same number of film and TV scores. From these various elements of his career, John Williams has an astounding collection of five Academy Awards, four Golden Awards, seven British Academy Film Awards, 21 Grammys and 47 nominations. One man only, and that is Walt Disney, has more award nominations than John Williams. Another award worth mentioning is that John became an inductee to the Hollywood Bowl Hall of Fame.

Speaking about his personal life, John Williams married his first love Barbara Ruick in 1956, and they have three children – sadly, she died in 1974. Williams then married Samantha Winslow in 1980.
