John Kennedy Oswald Wiki Biography
John Kennedy Oswald was born on 1 February 1964, in Akron, Ohio, USA. He was a lead vocalist, songwriter, and recording artist best known for being the frontman of the band Warrant. The band had a successful run from 1989 to 1996 with around five albums getting sales of over 10 million. All of his efforts helped put his net worth to where it was prior to his passing in 2011.
How rich was Jani Lane? As of early-2017, sources inform us of a net worth at $500,000, mostly earned through success in the music industry. Aside from Warrant’s run, he also released solo albums; all of his achievements ensured the position of his wealth.
John learned to play various instruments at a young age, an grew up listening to various kinds of music, and when he was 11 he was already performing as a drummer in clubs. He attended Field High School, and after matriculating was offered drama scholarships as well as athletic scholarships, but despite these, he decided to forego tertiary studies and pursue a career in music.
He joined the band Cyren which was known for being the opening act of a local band called Risque. Eventually he formed another band alongside Al Collins, called Dorian Gray. He tried being the frontman, but lacked confidence and went back to the drums, which led to them disbanding. Lane found some popularity in Ohio, and would then form the band Plain Jane with eventual Warrant bandmate Steven Sweet. He adopted the name Jani Lane apparently based on his grandparents German surname, and started to record track demos. They rehearsed for months, moving to Los Angeles and taking odd jobs because they didn’t have enough money. Eventually they would do several performances and gain some popularity. They opened for the band Warrant, but after several members of both bands left, the two then merged.
Warrant gained the attention of several record labels after becoming popular on the club circuit. They signed with Columbia Records and partnered with manager Tom Hulet; Lane wrote all of the band’s songs and numerous hits including “Heaven”. Their debut album “Dirty Rotten Filthy Stinking Rich” got double platinum and peaked at the 10th spot of The Billboard 200. The band continued with more successful songs including “Cherry Pie”, “Uncle Tom’s Cabin”, and “Blind Faith”. The songs were part of the album “Cherry Pie” which also became a double platinum seller. In 1992, Jani performed the song “The Power” for the movie “Gladiator”, eventually leading to another critically acclaimed album entitled “Dog Eat Dog”. The following year, Jani left the band to pursue a solo career, but returned a few months later. They secured a new deal with CMC International. Their following albums would be “Ultraphobic”, “Belly to Belly”, Greatest & Latest”, and “Under the Influence” which was released in 2001.
In 2004, Jani left Warrant following numerous disagreements, but returned to the band four years later with all of the original members also returning. However, he would again leave to continue his solo career after a few months, and released his debut album called “Back Down to One”, but then went into a rehab center due to drug problems, although he continued songwriting and also became a part of several television shows. In 2010, he toured with Great White, filling in for singer Jack Russell.
For his personal life, it is known that Jani married model Bobbie Brown in 1991 and they had a daughter, but divorced after three years. In 1996 he married actress Rowanne Brewer, and they also had a daughter but their marriage ended in 2005. In 2010, he married Kimberly Nash and the couple stayed together until his death. Jani was found dead due to acute alcohol poisoning a year later, though the autopsy reported that the cause was indeterminate. A memorial concert was held for him, and a lot of bands participated, including Quiet Riot and Great White.
