Authoritative sources estmate that Tsonga’s net worth is over $10 million, accumulated largely through his prize money won as a professional tennis player since 2004Tsonga is the son of Didier Tsonga, a handball player who is of Congolese descent and later became a chemistry teacher, and Evelyne Tsonga, a French woman who was also an educator. Tsonga showed potential in playing tennis at a very early age. In 2003, he was already competing at the US Open Juniors championship. During that year, he was able to reach the semifinals of three other junior Grand Slam events. With his early success, in 2004 he immediately decided to turn professional.

Tsonga’s early years as a professional were not easy; aside from his lacklustre performance, he also endured plenty of injuries. After recovering from that injury, he then experienced problems with both his shoulders, and later on an abdominal issue. His problems caused him to miss plenty of games from 2004 until 2006.

He is one of the few players in the world of professional tennis to ever have Grand Slam wins against tennis’ Big Four, Rafael Nadal, Roger Federer, Andy Murray, and Novac Djokovic.
