Since he is still a very active musician, his net worth continues to grow.

Jimmy was born into a musical family – his father played the guitar on the 1959 hit “Guitar Boogie Shuffle” and his mother was a singer, and started playing guitar when he was just seven years old. Due to the great interest he developed in jazz, he studied improvisations with local bass legends such as Al Stauffer, and taught himself to play violin etudes of Paganini and Wohlfahrt.

After attending a summer guitar gig in Wildwood when he was 19, Bruno joined the Buddy Rich Orchestra, actually its youngest member. He then continued to play in various orchestras for Frank Sinatra, Doc Severinsen, Lena Horne and Anthony Newley among others. The beginning of his professional career was mostly connected to Los Angeles, before deciding to return to Philadelphia.

After playing in small clubs back in his hometown during the ‘80s, his reputation and popularity grew, and he was discovered by the founder of Concord Records in 1992, and signed to a recording deal. He has since recorded 13 CDs, such as “Sleight of Hand”, “Polarity” and “Like That”; his “Maplewood Avenue” CD was selected as one of the top CDs of 2008 by Downbeat magazine, all adding to his net worth.

Bruno has been invited to major music festivals word wide, some of them being Concord Jazz Festivals, JVC, Berks, Vail, and Pescara Jazz Festival, Italy. Throughout his outstanding career, Jimmy has cooperated with numerous acknowledged musicians such as Bobby Watson, Joe Beck, Curt Elling, Howard Alden and many more. In May 2007, Bruno, along with the Affiliated Artists, opened the Jimmy Bruno Guitar Institute, with the aim of bringing jazz improvisation closer to students, and teaching them his unique methods. A couple of months later, he was invited to the Jazz Improv Convention in New York City as one of the performers, and in 2009 Jimmy was named one of the top 75 guitarists ever by Downbeat magazine.

Bruno continued his career as a musicians educator, and founded his independent online jazz guitar school named the Jimmy Bruno Guitar Workshop in 2011, revolutionizing the way students learn guitar through internet, by posting video lessons and allowing students to record their own, sending it to Jimmy for a review. As some of his most important influences, Jimmy counts Joe Pass, Johnny Smith, Jim Hall, Pat Martino and Hank Garland.

When it comes to his private life, no relationship is known to the public. Jimmy had to undergo surgery in February 2007, as he discovered he was suffering from Carpal Tunnel Syndrome. His hobbies include competitive shooting (without hurting animals) and photography.
