Jameson went to St. Albans School in Washington, D.C., and before college he went to a Swiss prep school. He then enrolled at Beloit College, where he studied drama, graduating in 1971. While still in college, Jameson was quite active when it comes to acting; he performed in student theater productions, and later had a part in “The Great White Hope”, and also played in “Caligula” and “Indians”, among others. Following his graduation, Jameson began performing in dinner theaters in the Washington, D.C. area. The next year he moved to New York City, and made several off-Broadway appearances, and also featured in a number of commercials. His first screen role came in 1976 in the TV mini-series “Once an Eagle”, which was followed by roles in TV series “Somerset” (1976), and “One Life to Live” (1978). Later in 1978 he was cast in a supporting role in the film “Women at West Point” next to Linda Purl and Leslie Ackerman, and also the same year he featured in the film “The Bell Jar”.

In the 1980s he continued to star, in films such as “A Small Circle of Friends” (1980), “The Promise of Love” (1980), and “Callie & Son” (1981), before he secured the part in the TV series “Simon & Simon” (1981-1989), which celebrated him as an actor and increased his net worth by a large margin. While the show lasted, Jameson had other engagements as well, including the roles in films such as “White Dog” (1982), “A Caribbean Mystery” (1983), directed by Robert Michael Lewis, “Jackals” (1986), and John Carpenter`s “Prince of Darkness” (1987) with the legendary Donald Pleasence and Oscar-winning actress Lisa Blount. He ended the most fruitful decade of his career with a role in the thriller “Spy” (1989), starring Bruce Greenwood and Tim Choate.

Jameson started the next decade with the lead role in “She Says She`s Innocent” (1991), next to Katey Sagal and Robert Picardo, and continued with roles in “Curse of the Crystal Eye” (1991), with Cynthia Rhodes, and in 1993 starred in “Dead Before Dawn”. Later in the decade he featured in “Dead Man`s Island” (1996), and “Something Borrowed, Something Blue” (1997), starring Connie Selleca and Twiggy. He then took a break from acting, and returned in 2003, with the role of CIA Deputy Director Harrison Kershaw in the crime drama TV series “JAG” (2003-2004); all lifted his net worth.

After that he definitely retreated from the acting world, and currently works as a writer for several magazines, both hardcopy and online.
