The success of Intel has helped elevate his wealth to great heights, but he’s made a lot of significant contributions to the scientific community, and all of these have ensured the position of his finances.

Gordon attended Sequioa High School, and after matriculating, went to San Jose State University. After studying there for two years, he transferred to the University of California, Berkeley, eventually earning a degree in chemistry. After graduating, he then went to the California Institute of Technology (Caltech) where he would earn a PhD in chemistry four years later. Moore started his career with Beckman Instruments as part of the Shockley Semiconductor Laboratory. However, he would soon leave the company along with other employees to found the Fairchild Semiconductor Corporation, which would become highly influential, although the eight members who left Shockley would become known historically as the “traitorous eight”. Gordon would become the director of research and development of Fairchild, increasing his net worth significantly. During his time there he would create what would be known as Moore’s law; Gordon observed that components in a dense integrated circuit doubled every year, and would continue to do so. He then made a revision, making the forecast every two years. The prediction has become a very significant factor in the development of the semiconductor industry.

In 1968, Gordon along with Robert Noyce would found the company NM Electronics which would later become Intel Corporation. Moore served as vice president and would become president of the company in 1975. Four years later, he became the chief executive officer and chairman of Intel, and his net worth would steadily increase with the company’s success.
