Frances Rose Shore Wiki Biography
Frances Rose Shore was born on 29th February 1916, in Winchester, Tennessee USA, and was a singer, actress and television personality, who was particularly popular in the 1940s and 1950s, but who was also a TV personality for two more decades. As a golf player, she was a strong supporter of professional women’s golf development in the US, including establishing the Colgate Dinah Shore tournament, one of the five major tournaments of the LPGA Championship. Dinah passed away in 1994.
How much was the net worth of Dinah Shore? It has been reported by authoritative sources that the overall size of her wealth was equal to $20 million, as of the data presented in the middle of 2017.
To begin with, the blonde singer began her career as a teenager in Nashville, Tennessee as the singer with Francis Craig’s orchestra, and gravitated to New York in the 1930s. However, her desire to work as a singer in the popular big bands was rejected by Tommy Dorsey and Benny Goodman after auditions, so nevertheless she decided to work as a solo singer, and received a record contract in 1940 – ultimately she released over 80 songs which appeared in the US charts. Already in 1942, she had her first big hit “Blues in the Night”, which sold over a million copies. In the musical film “Thank Your Lucky Stars” (1943), she made her film debut, then in 1944 she had her first number one hit in the US, “I’ll Walk Alone” from the movie “Follow the Boys”, which was nominated for an Academy Award. She became the most popular singer in the US, which opened the doors to Hollywood. In 1944, she starred in three films. In the 1950s, her popularity increased because of the television. “The Dinah Shore Chevy Show” (1951 – 1963) became one of the most popular television shows in the US. She was sponsored by Chevrolet for which she also made commercials. In the 1970s, she came back to the screen with an afternoon talk show, meantime continuing to also work as a singer and actress until the late 1980s.
In addition, Dinah Shore, who also played golf, was a long time sponsor of professional women’s golf. In 1972, she was co-founder of the Colgate Dinah Shore Golf Tournament, which is now under the name Kraft Nabisco Championship, and is one of the four major golf tournaments for women on the LPGA Tour. The tournament is held every spring near Shores House in Rancho Mirage, California. Shore was also the first female member of the famous Hillcrest Country Club in Los Angeles. In recognition of her support for golf, Dinah Shore was posthumously inducted into the World Golf Hall of Fame. In 1985, she had already received the Pattyberg Award and 1993 the Old Tom Morris Award, the highest award of the Golf-course Superintendents Association of America (GCSAA).
Finally, in the personal life of Dinah Shore, she was married to the western star George Montgomery in 1943, until their 1963 divorce – they had two children; she was then briefly married to Maurice F. Smith from 1963 to 1964. In the 1970s, she was in relationship with the actor Burt Reynolds. Dinah Shore died in and died on 24th February 1994 in Los Angeles, California, US 1994 at the age of 77 years as a result of ovarian cancer. Her funeral took place at the Hillside Memorial Park Cemetery in Culver City, California.
