Have you ever wondered how rich Drew Henson is, as of early 2017? According to authoritative sources it has been estimated that Henson’s net worth is as high as $7 million, an amount earned largely through his careers in baseball and football.
Drew is the son of the former football coach Dan Henson and his wife Carol. He went to Brighton High School in Brighton, Michigan, where he played baseball, football and even basketball. He excelled in football, completing 400 passes for 52 touchdowns and 5,662 yards in three seasons. He also played as a defensive back, and recorded 47 tackles and five interceptions. Drew also had success in baseball, completing 70 home runs, which was then a national prep record, earning USA Today High School Player of the Year and the Gatorade High School Player of the Year awards.
After matriculation, Drew enrolled at the University of Michigan, where he shared playing time with Tom Brady as starting quarterback for his first two seasons. Drew posted some good numbers, including 254 passing yards, which was enough for three touchdowns, and also had one interception in seven games he played. In the 1999 season, Drew’s numbers nearly doubled as he had 546 passing yards, three touchdowns and two interceptions in nine appearances. His third year was the best one, as Brady left for the NFL Drew became the leading quarterback, and contributed to his team’s fantastic season with 2,146 yards, along with 18 touchdowns and four interceptions.
During his college years, he was already in baseball, as he was drafted by the New York Yankees as 97th overall pick in 1998 Major League Baseball Draft. He signed a contract worth $17 million over six years, but saw little playing time in the major league as he only wore the Yankees jersey eight times before retiring in 2004.
The year before his baseball retirement, Drew declared for the 2003 NFL Draft and was selected by the Houston Texans, but didn’t play for them, as the front office traded him to the Dallas Cowboys.
In his first season in NFL, Drew posted 78 passing yards and one touchdown, playing as a backup to Vinny Testaverde. The 2006 season was disastrous as he failed to enter first team squad and was sent to Rhein Fire of NFL Europe. While playing in Europe, Drew’s form improved, and he returned to the Cowboys the same year, however, he was waived by the team before the start of the next season.
He then joined training camp of the Minnesota Vikings and signed a one-year contract, but was also waived by the club in August 2007.
Before he retired he was on and off with the Detroit Lions practice squad and first team, subsequently being a part of their infamous 0-16 season.
Several years after his retirement from active playing, Drew assumed the role of a scout with the New York Yankees, which has also increased his wealth.
Regarding his personal life, Drew has been married to Madeline Easley since 2008.
