Donald Thomas Scholz Wiki Biography

Donald Thomas ‘Tom’ Scholz was born on the 10th May 1947, in Ottawa Hills, Ohio USA, and is a musician, best recognised for being the founder, guitarist, keyboardist, songwriter as well as producer of the rock band Boston. Music is the main source of Tom Scholz net worth. He has been active in the entertainment industry since 1969.

How much is the net worth of Tom Scholz? It has been estimated by authoritative sources that the overall size of his net worth is as much as $10 million, as of the data presented in the middle of 2016.

To begin with, Tom was raised in Toledo, Ohio, and before devoting his career to music, Scholz graduated as an engineer from Massachusetts Institute of Technology with a BA in 1969, and earning Master’s degree in 1970. In 1969, he formed the rock band Boston. After making several demos (all done entirely by Tom), finally the group signed a contract with Epic Records, and their first, self-title album “Boston” appeared in 1976, which was certified diamond in the USA. Consequently, Scholz’s work as a composer and arranger was successful; he created such popular songs as “More Than a Feeling” and “Peace of Mind”. However, his greatest work is “Hitch a Ride”, a song that shows the musical talent of Scholz, who composed and made all the arrangements of the song. After the appearance of the album “Do Not Look Back” in 1978 (certified seven times platinum) , Scholz got into legal trouble with the record label, which caused troubles for the following album of Boston named “Third Stage” to see the light until 1986 – this was certified four times platinum in USA. Scholz again showed that he is able to compose any music, with songs like “Amanda” which quickly appeared on the charts. His net worth benefited significantly.

After years of absence, the studio album “Walk On” (1994) came to light, which was certified platinum. In 2002, the band released the album “Corporate America”, and Boston’s last album came out in 2013, entitled “Life, Love & Hope”.

Furthermore, Tom Scholz has his own company called Scholz Research & Development. Scholz developed sound equipment entitled Rockman, which apart from giving a unique sound, at the time his group was also used by groups like Def Leppard, ZZ Top, Bulin Band. He also collaborated creating the songs for other artists, like the song “Peace of Mind” for the Christian metal band Stryper, on their studio album, “Murder by Pride” (2009).

Finally, in the personal life of the musician and composer, Scholz married Kim Hart in 2007, and they live in the Boston area. It is the second marriage for Tom. From his first marriage Scholz has a son, Jeremy.

Also, Scholz has been characterized as a protector of nature and environmental issues – besides being a vegetarian, he is a member of Greenpeace. He created the Charitable DTS Foundation in 1987 to help in supporting the causes related to animal protection, supply of vegetarian resources, stop world hunger, creating homeless shelters, food banks and animal rescues and shelters, and the defense of human rights. Through his work with his foundation he has raised millions of dollars. Tom has won many awards for its environmental and altruistic work.
