Donald Maynard Dokken Wiki Biography
Donald Maynard Dokken was born on the 29th June 1953, in Los Angeles, California, USA. He is a musician, singer, songwriter, who is probably best recognized for being the lead vocalist as well as one of the founding members of the heavy metal band Dokken. Previously, he was known as a member of the band Airborn. He has also released two studio albums – “Up From The Ashes”, and “Solitary”, as a solo artist. His musical career has been active since 1976.
So, have you ever wondered how rich Don Dokken is? According to authoritative sources, it is estimated that Don counts his net worth at the amount of $10 million, as of mid- 2016. He has been accumulating this sum of money thanks to his successful involvement in the music industry.
Don Dokken was raised in Los Angeles, where his career began in the second half of the 1970s, when he played in the band Airborn. However, he left the band, and moved to Germany where he befriended George Lynch and Mick Brown, with whom he would later create the heavy metal band Dokken, but in the meantime, he was a part of the Germany metal band Scorpions, recording vocals for their album, while their original singer Klaus Meine was receiving therapy for nodes on his vocal chords.
He then became focused on starting his own band, and with the two already mentioned members, started to work on their first album. Their debut release came out in 1983, entitled “Breaking The Chains”; however, it was a commercial failure, but that didn’t stop Don for pursuing further his musical dreams. Their next album, entitled “Tooth And Nail” (1984), was a tremendous accomplishment by the band, as it achieved platinum status, and reached No. 49 on the US Billboard 200 chart. They continued successfully throughout the 1980s, releasing albums “Under Lock And Key” (1985), and “Back For The Attack”, both achieving platinum status, which only increased Don’s net worth further. However, he disbanded the group in 1988 after several arguments with George Lynch, and started a career on his own.
However, he revived Dokken in 1994 with Lynch and Brown and Jeff Pilson, but since then the line-up has changed frequently as Lynch didn’t stay long, subsequently featuring John Norum, Alex De Rosso, and Reb Beach on guitar. Since the reunion, Dokken has released seven more albums, but with no major success. Some of the albums include “Dysfunctional” (1995), “Shadowlife” (1997), “Lightning Strikes Again” (2008), and their latest release “Broken Bones” (2012), which landed in 173rd place on the US Billboard 200 chart.
Don’s solo career consists of two albums, “Up From The Ashes” (1990), and “Solitary” (2008), the sales of which also increased his net worth.
If to talk about his personal life, Don Dokken has never been married; however, he is the father of two children – a girl, Jessica Dokken, and a boy, Tyler Dokken, who is known in the media as an actor. Don is also known as an avid collector of old cars.
