Dominique Gaston Andre Strauss-Kahn was born on 25 April 1949, in Neuilly-sur-Siene, France, of Jewish descent, and is a politician best known for being the former managing director of the International Monetary Fund or IMF. However, his career has proven to be controversial due to involvement in sex and financial scandals. All of his endeavors have helped put his net worth to where it is today.

In 1991, he was nominated to become Junior Minister for Industry and Foreign Trade, and stayed in the position for two years until he was appointed to become chairman of the Group of Experts of the Socialist Party. In 1995, he would be elected as mayor of Sarcelles.

In 1997, he was appointed to be Minister for Economics, Finance and Industry. He implemented a wide privatization program, and the economy would benefit from his performance in the office. He was also an early proponent of reducing the working week to 35 hours. However, two years later, he was accused of being involved in two financial scandals which led to him resigning from office. He returned as a re-elected Member of Parliament in 2002, and would later create a blog that would earn him popularity. His net worth at this point was already at a high level.

In 2007, he became the consensus nominee to be head of the IMF, and was even supported by President Nicolas Sarkozky. During his time there, he was discovered to be in an affair with subordinate Piroska Nagy, and the issue led to Nagy being rendered redundant.
