Dallas Austin Wiki Biography
Dallas L. Austin was born on 29 December 1970 in Columbus, Georgia, USA. He is a film producer, musician, record producer and songwriter, best known for working with many big names in the film and music industry. Some of his clients include Lady Gaga, Namie Amuro, Carly Rae Jepsen, Boyz II Men, P!nk and Michael Jackson. All of his efforts have helped put his net worth to where it is today.
How rich is Dallas Austin? As of mid-2016, sources estimate a net worth that is at $35 million, mostly earned through a successful career in the music industry. He’s worked with big recording companies and is responsible for some of the hit songs his clients have released. He also owned three record labels and as he continues his career his wealth will likely increase.
Dallas started his career with the help of Joyce Irby who was a member of Klymaxx. He became a producer for Joyce’s company Diva One Productions, and helped her produce a single included in her debut album. He also worked with Motown Records and helped produce the songs “I Will Always Love You” and “My Music” for the “Attitude” album by Troop. A year later, he decided to try a solo career, and worked with other names that were signed with Motown Records. One of his first clients was Glasswurk, and after them he got to work with Boyz II Men who were developing their debut album. He continued to work with various clients and was then asked to help with a few projects for LaFace Records. Austin helped develop TLC’s debut album and at the same time he created his own group called Highland Place Mobsters. The members of the group were comprised of Glasswurk members, but the group was short lived. Austin later worked with After 7 for their second album “Takin’ My Time”. He also worked on two albums for Madonna and then became known for making popular singles for artists such as Pink and Gwen Stefani. His net worth benefited steadily.
He founded three record labels during his career, the first of which was Rowdy Records founded in 1992. The label worked in distribution with Arista Records and also with Motown Records. The artists who were signed to them include Monica, Da Backwudz, Illegal, and Fishbone. Austin’s second record label was Limp Records which was unfortunately, short lived; the only albums that the label produced were “The Pendulum Vibe” by Joi and “A View to a Kill” by Shadz of Lingo. His third label was Freeworld Entertainment which was founded in 1998. The two artists who signed with Freeworld were Sammie and Lysette, however, after Sammie released his debut album “From the Bottom to the Top”, the label closed, and Sammie then moved to Rowdy Records. Aside from these, Austin had a recording studio called Dallas Austin’s Recording Projects (D.A.R.P) Studios.
For his personal life, it is known that Dallas has three children without ever being married, including a son with Lee Hopson (1994) and another with TLC singer Rozonda Chilli Thomas (1997); recently Austin has been linked to model Jessica White.
